XSI beginner

any good books or tutorials??
i’ve used 3D programs before, but i just jumped on to XSI…it’s a different beast, this product really got me motivated to give 3D another go
i’m just looking for some step guides for beginners, doesn’t have to be XSI specific, though i would prefer it since it has it’s own unique features like ICE

There’s plenty of tutorials on the Softimage forums: http://community.softimage.com/forumdisplay.php?f=57

The Digital Tutors training DVDs are also excellent resources.

I think the Digitla Tutors do a great job with new users. There is a free DVD that comes with the software called “The Artist Guide to XSI”. Definitely check this one out. They have some ICE DVD’s too. As you get more experience, there are plenty of other training vendors like 3Dquakers to give you more advanced topics.

Here is another site to try:
http://www.vast.ws/resources/xsi/tutorials/tutorials.html
It is on older versions, but gives good overview of working in Softimage.

As for books I’d try “The Art of XSI”. It walks you through (command by command ) 3 projects giving a good overview of modeling, texturing and rendering and a little IK setup too.

There is also the i3D tutorial line, which is good for rounding out your education.

I think the rendering and modeling ones are a good place to start.

3Dmastermind is a good one to get you up and running on the basics of animating in XSI. I recommend it over the others…

As said- the vast stuff is old, but more than worth you while to check out. Can’t beat free either!
