XGen Error--You have generated over 163840 primities on a single face

Hi,
Using Maya 2016 SP6, when I select my terrain mesh (2,100 polygons, with no history, frozen transforms, good uv’s, and a lambert shader), click Create New Description, enter a description name, enter a collection name, select Custom Geometry/Archives/Randomly across surface, select Using Attributes controlled by expressions, and click create, I get this message.

Warning line 1: Xgen(2): Warning: You have generated over 163840 primitives on a single face. This means Xgen is having to reuse and tile it’s samples. It is recommended you carve up the face to prevent this from happening. [newPlants,newBushes,terrain_lowForestPath_terrain(881)]

I Googled the error but found nothing. The error occurs before I add any archive files.Anyone know what is happening?

Talked to Michael Todd at Autodesk who designed XGen and he suggested my terrain_geo was too large–8700 centimeters, which can lead to high primitive counts. He suggested I scale down to 0.1, freeze, and bind xgen . Then increase the scale by 10 to return to the original scale. His suggestion worked! :slight_smile:

@oglu
Hello, I have reached to the point of creating the xgen now with the steps mentioned above, but I don’t know how to Bind xgen description to geometry. Could you help with this ?
