I don’t get it. It’s ftp software? They make it sound like a new invention or something.

It is some sort of online storage. they give you an utility, which you can connect to their site. They give you 2gb for free, as far as I know.
I never used it though.
Its useful for sharing OBJ’s and stuff, I use it more for that than anything, but its really nice that it just creates a folder on your desktop and it automatically syncs up with that folder online.
When Dropbox first launched they had this screencast on their homepage.
There are some semi amusing jokes throughout.

It's pretty useful for syncing files across multiple PCs, it makes backups whenever you change a file, and stores them online in case you lose the files locally. Another nice feature is being able to drag something into a public folder and being able to share the link for it almost instantly.
yes as mentioned, it’s much better than an ftp. The folder on your desktop or wherever, auto syncs. you can share and work with other people and it syncs all the files.
And did i mention it’s free. And if you get 5 more people to sign up you get an extra gb, bringing the total to 3GB.
yes and it gives you links to all your files so you can share them out as an http link very easily.
Any modern graphic mobile workstation type of laptop has a wide viewing angle these days. In fact my old Dell m90 has a wider viewing angle than my wife’s macbook pro. And the new Dell m6400 have almost a complete 180 degree viewing angle with full RGB LED backlit screens that blow away macbook pro’s LED-backlit display…
Not trying to knock Macs, they are fantastic machines but they don’t have a monopoly on wide viewing angles or LED-backlit technology. Just remember that about five chinese/korean companies manufacture about 90% of the worlds laptops. I believe that a large part of Mac hardware is manufactured by ASUS.
Problem for Vozz is that he is using a Viao which is a business machine and not meant for graphics. As result they use inexpensive screens because the focus is for a typical business user who doesn’t care about color fidelity and a low viewing angle is beneficial because of privacy reasons. Ie, when using their laptops at cafes, airports, coffee shops, etc.
Here’s one I get on a pretty frequent basis:
Keep the same exact action going on in the shot, but make it go slower. And also make the shot 2 seconds shorter.
Speed*Time=Distance anyone?
Looks like an interesting use of FTP. Totally unusable for me since many of my files are well over 2 gig.
Keep the same exact action going on in the shot, but make it go slower. And also make the shot 2 seconds shorter.
/\ I got to say that actually made laugh out loud. Still grinning.
thankgod i havnt had a client say that to me. I think i might’ve lost it.
I think that’s even worse than asking to make it look more like pixar.
Ive had to spend longer than I should explaining that one. For a 2 second brand ident at the end of a show, they came up with a huge list of stuff that needed to happen. They kept asking to make it slower… despite the fact that they only had a 2 second slot.
Not a worst comments thing but…anyway…
I was over at a relatives house to go over the office computer systems glitches
which also involved stabbing and kicking their routers and wireless network setup, retrieving lost password for backups and stuff too numeroul to mention.
To see if the person in the secondary office was getting internet etc back up involved a lot of yelling down a hallway…
My niece is yelling down the hallway about her ip address or something and i cannot quite hear or actually figure out why or what she is telling me and frankly because they have farkded up the system so badly i have been sitting there for 5 bleeding hours and everyone is getting a little snarky and pissed off… so she screams …ip!address… ip! ip!
My 3 year old nephew pops his head into the office
and proclaims in all seriousness …Ipoo!..Ipoo.
wtf…we just changed him and he hadn’t.
…okay so it took a second.
Made my day.
Then we all sat down and had a cup of tea.
i know this might not be the best place to post this but i need to vent …
this guy shows me this as his friend’s ““VFX showreel””
i could feel the blood rushing to my ears after seeing this :banghead:
That is probably one of the worst demo reels I have ever seen, but why does it make you angry?
hehe, i feel ur pain. but trust me there are worse reels. There was this one with planes and humvees, but unfortunately i can’t find the link. but very similar in stupidity.
Don’t know if these things are up to the “worst comments” title, I think they are far worse then that.
Didn’t you notice some other products/companies use our jargon to sell their product, totally unrelated to anything we do:
Arround 2000 they emphasised the words “ergonomic” and “design”
I’ve seen a toothpaste with 3D white
Hospitals use the term 4D ecography.
Yesterday I’ve seen HD taste on a pack of cigarettes…
I was like :argh:
Hahaha same ads here too! I laughed a lot at the 3D toothpaste and the HD cigarettes. Still, thinking of it, I bought the toothpaste
I guess their marketing wasn’t targeting me though
