Working Late

#1

The “Working Late” project started as a challenge that one of my friends gave me in late 2013. I was working at Vishka Studio at the time and he asked me to model my desk!

You may ask why I named it "Working Late"? It has a very simple answer, I was usually working late hours to do some extra work! Sometimes even after 9PM!!!

Anyway, here's the final render of first version:

and here's a shot of my desk after I finished the first version. You can see the rendered version as my background.

As you can see not the exact desk but my friend was satisfied! But I wasn't! :)

I couldn't find any free time to get back to this and I also left the Vishka Studio and was busy with the new job.

Finally, it was 3 weeks ago that I decided to get back to this and finish what I have started. But looking at the actual reference there wasn't much to do! So, I decided to explode the scene with objects! (Which is what I usually love to do with my scenes)

I'm going to post my progress here from time to time. You can also follow my W.I.P thread [HERE](http://amirabd2130.blogspot.com/2015/05/wip-working-late.html).

[li]Since there is no actual reference to follow, I’m going to add stuff, re-arrange as necessary and add more![/li][li]Most of the pictures are gonna be 3DS Max screen grabs and not actual renders. But, I will render the scene frequently, to see how objects look and also to test the lighting.[/li][/ul]

Here are some changes:

Some changes

#4

Any suggestion for objects which you think I could add to the scene?

#5

It’s a busy scene. I would say to work in Lightrig. Not the placements of objects

#6

You have much fewer toys… (ahem) I mean collectibles then what is acceptable.
You know what to do.

#7

Added some more objects
Tweaked the lighting a little

#8

I’m tweaking the lighting as I progress.
There’s gonna be 4 light sources: Desk Lamp, 2 Monitors and the Computer Case (Red light).

I sure will add some :keenly:

#9

Very nice stuff. May I say that I’m not feeling the light coming from the screens? I admire people who have time and energy to create so much for one scene :applause:

#10

Looking real nice. I think with some compositing you can make it even more realistic. Maybe some glow around the lamp. Or some depth blur in the scene

#11

Look like a busy desk, try to add more aged textures. Iphone glass too clean, table is too clear.

#12

Thank you  I’m tweaking the lighting right now. I will also add some bloom for monitors to enhance that.

Thanks. I will definitely add bloom and DoF
I will soon post a composition test.

Thanks for advice. I will consider that

Added more objects
Tweaked the lighting a little
I’m not sure about it yet, but made a quick (5min) composition test

#14

Your screens should be a strong light source and should reflect on your reflective table.

#15

thanks for feedback. I will work on that.

#16

Another composition test (This time higher resolution)

Just to fill you guys in,

[li]Constantly working on lighting & composition.[/li][li]Going to add few more new objects. Some toys included for those who love collectibles :D[/li][li]Replacing the old keyboard, mouse and the headset with new ones.[/li][li]Changing the screen of both monitor.[/li][/ul]Any suggestion in any area, from objects to lighting and composition is quite welcome.

New keyboard
[In case you wondering that’s Razer DeathStalker Essential Gaming Keyboard]

Looks great i like the composition and lighting. However i think everything looks a bit new and to clean, maybe you could dirty it up a bit. Put in a coffee stain somewere, som wear and tear on the desk, keyboard, mouse mugs etc.
Great work overall, looks awesome!

Thanks.
Yeah. I’m adding dirt and stains right now. It’s gonna take a while, due to the number of objects
