Thought I would share my first concept for the challenge, might try to get a couple more mocked up if time allows. I wanted to turn the plate’s buildings into mega structures, I still feel like they need integration with the smaller scaled buildings…not really sure how to go about it yet though.

An interesting take on this story! I think it could work though, just the scale needs to be tamed. Try having those smaller buildings “built” on top of or on the side of the larger plate buildings. By adding some more minute texture to the buildings, you can convey they are massive too, and eroding some of the cleaner straight edges of the plate through painting/clone painting.
I like the idea - this is completely new and original approach. Keep it up!

Dear Matthew,
Even though this is a really creative idea, I believe we’re after a more realistic Styleframe that could work as a shot in a feature film. Your scale variation is extremely surrealistic and I’m afraid it is too far from the actual brief.
However, if you replaced all the tiny houses with rock cliff textures, it might work.
Give it a try.

Thanks a ton for the feedback! My initial thought was to do what Ackdoh suggested, putting smaller elements on the large buildings along with some on top. Maybe adding some medium sized buildings would close the gap on the extreme scale variation as well? Milanschere, I think I am misunderstanding your suggestion. By replacing the smaller buildings with mountains it would almost mean that the plate’s buildings were made for giants, haha.
