So I’m not much of a painter, never have been. But I liked the idea of submitting something and having a go so I thought I might try and submit a work that is photoshop and compositing based and see how it turns out :stuck_out_tongue: Different strokes for different folk I believe :arteest:

SO, I went looking for a stock image that I think matches the description and, using it as my basic template along with the kreola image off I go :stuck_out_tongue:

It is perfectly fine to participate without layering some paint onto the canvas :arteest:

Make sure when you search for your reference photos  you also keep the lighting in mind

From a compositing point of view :lightbulb
the sun direction will have to match just like the perspective

And once you get started on the styleframe :bounce: rather match your reference photos into the plate :argh: than attempting it the other way around

Good luck :buttrock:

Bwag the first steps are taken on a journey to the world of tomorrow…yeah its just the beginning shot but I think I’m on my way at least, LOTS MORE TO GO ON

#4

So I started having a look at filling in the rest of the wall which I’m happy with and putting some houses up across the river. I’m not too happy with the the little houses but for now it’ll stand as a place holder because I’m not too fussed. On ward to the next stage!

#5

Yeah got all teh swag going now. Put a bridge in dat shizzle! SO element wise its starting to compile nicely but I’m still not happy with the little houses and I might shift the perspective to show the river better. Still its coming along

#6

Just getting into it now  Having fun! Full speed ahead!

#7

Getting into the swing of it now. Bulking up some of the walls to get the image going, still alot of correct but I think for now I’ll just focus on putting the elements into the scene  I also added in some stone houses across the way but I’m not sure if they’re working. I’ll review once I’ve filled more in. Also unsure about if the aspect is still working. Might have to shift the river at a later point.

#8

I like the placements of the bridges (obviously will tie them into the scene better) but I’m like the general structures. Still deciding whether or not I’ll move the stream or just throw up a wall. Much more to do. SO MUCH MOAR

Hi there,

I was just going through all the other entries to see how people are going, and thought I’d drop in to make a quick comment, hope you don’t mind.

The saturation of this image is bordering on painful…I need sunglasses to look at it!

But seriously, your perspective is all over the place, do you have a perspective layer on top of everything? It would really help to establish exactly where the horizon and vanishing point is, becasue at the moment, all your buildings are leaning forward toward the ground on about a 25 degree angle off of horizontal which makes the horizon somewhere in the river below.

The horizon of the background image is just below the sun, so if you dropped it down to the middle of the right plate buildings, that would be more correct.

Good luck with the rest of the challenge.
