great work so far. i can tell from the start that you are not going to have any problems. the texturing is coming on fine. take another look at her ears though. i think they are too small. and give her some temporary irises. it will help lock down the shape of the eyes.

all the best.

the skin looks very nice- looking forward to spec and bump maps…

keep it up

#23

i think the cheekbones are too far back, elase really nice work.

Right, slight update - sorry for the lack of progress. I completely reUVd her, which means i completely retextured her too… hence the delay. She is now uv’d by parts - i have to do a few seams here and there but overall its not looking too bad. Still havent done spec and bump because i had to redo colour. Here is a render so far.

Now… dont ask me why i keep doing this, but it really intruiges me. I did a little photoshopping with the original photo and my render and this is what i got. If you compare those two in photoshop, you will see that the second one basically has her eyes screened onto the face… Which is very strange because it makes the entire face look different. This is probably nothing new to you, i guess i should know that eyes practically make a face, but i just find it fascinating to see how much it changes the face… I guess i will really have to get those eyes looking good when i start working on them.

Ok so as usual, c&cs welcome, sorry about the delaying. I hope to have other maps done by the end of the week as i am VERY busy at the moment (and this is a HUGE distraction… which sucks).

Wow! Thats turning out pretty cool! what a diference seeing her before the texture of the eyes and after… it really brought her to life! keep it up!

#26

wow, I love the lips, looks great! And the eyes! Ah, what am I talking, the whole face is great^^

But the ears are a bit smaller than they should be, arent they?

#27

yes, unfortunately the ears are too small, but i cant do much about it now because i would have to pretty much start all over again what with uv mapping etc. So i’m just gonna keep going with the face as its all practice, and maybe one day (probably) come back to it and make it better. Since you mentioned the ears, i have a question. I modelled the head and ears seperately - the ears were a much higher resolution to the head, and to attach them i would have needed loads of extra verticies (loads) so instead what i did was subdivide smooth the head once, and then add a few more verticies till i could attach the ears with mostly no problems. However, after doing this, the head was too high res to manipulate by pulling verts… so i made sure my model was final at that point. Obviously, thats not good - i cannot manipulate my final model because the res is too high. How else could i have attached a high poly ear to a low poly head? The difference between the two was about the difference between one meshsmooth.

thanks

Ok sorry that i havent updated in so long - ive had exams. Here is a quickie - took me a while to get back into it, all my files are such a mess  Have added eyebrows. C&C welcome. I need to do her eyelashes but im not sure of the best method. Could you guys point me in the right direction please?

Thanks,
Ben

#29

before you go on with texturing, fix her ears. those ones are too small, plus they look like extrude-from-software-default-face piece. your work is great, but those ears drag your lv down a lot. other than that, great progess

#30

aww man… that sucks :frowning: Ok. Thanks for your input, i will get onto that (keep watching!)

Hey man, you’re doing great, but I have to be the bearer of some severe crit.

Your head looks great from straight on and from profile view. However, your 3/4 views are’nt accurate at all. It almost look like her forehead is too big, ie. it comes foreward too far and same with the whole jaw area. The cheek bones too are way too high.

to a lessor extend for me, the ears.

I admire what you’ve done with the two angles at your disposal (front and side views), but I think if you can search for some more ref pics off the net… especially from more angles, you’ll be able to model her more accurate.

Hope this wasn’t too much of a bubble popper, I am just giving you what you’ve asked for.

Ok, minor update. In answer to popular demand, i present you, BIG EARS! :stuck_out_tongue: I hope they are the right size now… I should stress (should really stress it twice) that the eyes in this pic are NOT RENDERED they are photoshopped (thats also why they look a little funny imo), but i thought it would be nice to stick them in. If you want to see the render without eyes, look below.

Thanks again, C&Cs very very welcome

wow you have really good results so far, its very realistic and well modeled, Good job so far

#34

Allready an improvement!

PS. Good Photoshop job on her eyes - it blends well!

#35

if it wasent for the knowledge of my own selfcontrol, i would print this picture and hug it forever. Very cute! 5 stars from me, Keep it up benvan, absolutly fantastic work!.

#36

Ok, did a bit of remodelling. Funny thing is, its very difficult to tell the difference although its quite drastic (!). Easiest way to see is to lay them on top of each other and its plain to see. However, im sure you guys have sharp eyes - please tell me, top or bottom? Top is original, bottom is remodelled slightly (generally smoother).

#37

Great updates that face looks really realistic, my only crit is the nose, it looks a bit too skinny to me, oh and also did you paint the texture yourself or use a reference picture, if you did paint it yourself could you post the texture so I can use it to help me with my models, I think your texture is great. thanks.

#38

nice skin shader u got there! but for the modeling, the nose is too thin around the nostrile, the side of the neck looks too narrow to feel like there is no sternocleidomastoid, the features of the ears need more deformation, the outter corner of the eyes need to be pushed in more to make the zygomatic bone more visible.

#39

This is just getting better and better! ;)

She looks so lovely!
But her ear looks a bit strange, eventuell to smooth!
