WIP - Keira

#77

Good Lord i need to stop working on this…

Ok, update. Eyes have had a huge makeover, although (eeek!) it may not appear THAT obvious. They now have proper “innie bits” instead of flaps of skin, and… well, just let me know what you think  I have also made the new eyes much wider. Unfortunately i suck at proper eyes. So er… i’ll have to learn. If you’ve been following this thread you’ll already know that

lots of other changes made here too, so if ive gone too far with anything and need to take it back a little, please let me know.

Thanks

Ooh, edit: Sorry for the low quality render (1 minute - couldnt be bothered)! GRIN

#78

Two photomixes, just for the hell of it. One with keira’s eyes, and one with angelina jolie’s eyes. I tried angelina’s to check if different eyes still look ok. Big problem comes when i have to do this in 3d :frowning:

Anyway, no real artistic value here, just “doodling”.

#79

hey mate…u r getting close to finishing it…i hope u make the eyes as above.besta luck mate.

#80

Well, here is my first attempt at making eyes.

please crit

#81

hey dude…good work…gr8 going…can you plz share some info on skin shader…is it SSS fast skin?

#82

SSS fast skin for both eyes and skin shader. Skin has no textures yet. If you dont know how to use it, i more than stronly recommend master zap’s globulus tutorial, found here:

http://www.lamrug.org/resources.html#sss
(see “skin tutorial” and “skin files”)

It explains how to set it up for any given model - gives you a great introduction to the shader.

#83

hi,

I think you go very long way to get the target. The eyes looks good but I cant tell who she is yet
.something is missing in the face notes
.i don’t know to spot it because you really made a great job in the anatomy
.i think it falls in the perspective view of your viewport against the real camera position
it just miss the one cent to get the complete dollar
.its good
keep it up!

#84

Thanks samifox and jet-black. I changed the eye shader network - its a little more complicated now but i think its an improvement

Ive also started the eyelashes. Samifox - do you think it looks more or less like keira knightley than it did before (on page 5). Do i need to go backwards a bit with the model?
For anybody else watching this thread, please let me know what you think is not quite “keira” about this model.

Thank you
Ben

hi benvan,
J really love your skin shader. Im working on one myself and I just cant get it right. So if it`s not a problem could you send how did you set the sss up? I would really aprreciate it
my e-mail: matti3@op.pl
As for the model it looks really good. Keep it up.
greets

#86

Matti3d- SSS is really not something you can send somebody, simply because it depends entirely on the size of the object in your scene. I would strongly recommend you take the tutorial i refered to above - if you are having trouble with sss then you wont be if you follow the tutorial. Make sure you read it all and DO it all! At the end of it, as ive said before, you will have an understanding of sss capable of producing decent results

Here’s another angle - hopefully this will help show up problem areas (the eyes look a bit cross-eyed - they are pointing straight forwards but im not quite sure how they should be pointing… i know that in real life eyes dont look straight forwards very often though. Egh…)

#87

hi,

i think it will help you if you look more picture of this beautiful woman : http://www.keiraknightleypalace.com/photos.asp

she have facial expression in your references that leads you to make some wrong notes. I compare the original image with your last update. There are still some feature missing. There is fatty tissue above the eye which is very important. Also the cheek bones doesn’t have the same curvature and mass. The nose of your model have to be less soft. In real she has wider bone. This is what I could see and maybe if you observe it the model will look more like her.

Good luck

#88

It may also help to push the area just under the bottom lip inwards a bit. Currently it’s a little flat. Even if in the end the likeness is not how you’d have wished it to be, you’ve still made a bloody good model. Keep it up.

#89

I think this is the end of the line for this model. My topology just isnt good enough to get a real likeness (either that or my ability  )

I spent all day today trying to get a better likeness. Took a 3/4 view reference picture, did all the changes and it looked fantastic. From that angle. Only. As for the other 359 angles, it sucked… arrrgh :frowning: I really dont know how to set up reference pics - if i use front or side views, there is no perspective, so i when i then look at the model in perspective veiw, it sucks. Well, im gonna start texturing unless anybody has any objections - say now or forever hold your peace!

Thanks samifox for that draw-over. Oh btw i have changed this model a little - the nose is much different. Please tell me if i have gone overboard.

Thanks

#90

hi,

it does look fantastic but not as you marked. i dont see any changhe since the last update.i spot the features in the face for you to add but i dont see any. texturing wont help you to get her if the face notes are not belonging to her …think about it?

#91

Nice modelling, but to be honest I think you were closer with your earlier attempts. Anatomically, in the later models, her jawbone looks too long. Cheekbones need to be closer together, the jaw more slender. The brow bone needs to be rounder. You just need to think about the bones really, maybe mark them out in different pictures of Kiera… chin, jaw, cheeks, brow, once you have these mapped out, you can start to fill her out.

#92

hey thx mate…thats a really nice study for shaders.keep it up.

#93

I hope the advice(PM)I gave you was good enough. Hope to see more updates and keep up the great work!

#94

Ok, so i havent touched this model in… months.

Just picked it up from where i left off (2 days ago) and this is what i’ve got so far. I really am ready to drop this model - i’ve spent way too much time dwelling on it. As soon as i get her to smile for the camera (with some hair), i’ll forget this ever happened and start afresh on a new model

Anyway, comments and crits are welcome, EXCEPT for crits on the model itself… because i just can’t be bothered anymore (i know that sounds terrible but… ya know… sorry no offense  )

Aight - thanks!

Ben
