Here a picture where i have underlined in blue what i think is too pinched.
In green it’s may bee too pinched, but i’m not sure, it may be only the texture.
But it’s may be only cause of the view and lights. Could you post other views?
It is a if you horse was a bit skinny with a gaunt cheek.
I like the texture even if i think you should map a larger map.
Is it procedural. How did you make it?

dagann: The texture is a normal bmp that I did in Gimp. But I am already working on a procedural version of it. Still not finished yet, but I will post a image with the texture when it’s done.
I pushed and pulled a lot of pixels in this model this week, hopefully improving the model and here is the latest version. Still working on it, so…
No relavante texture applied (just used a simpel material), only to see the results.

I Did some more modifications, but I am giving the modeling phase a pause. Meanwhile I 've been working on the bones and texture. I don’t want to do MORE re-work, so I am not doing nothing that won’t be used if I do some more changes in the geometry.
Like I said earlier, I am testing Blender in this project now. I made a material (node-tree) that gives me the flexibility to change the appearance of the coat just by adjusting 1 or 2 RGB values. It is not all procedural, but I am working on it. I am working also in it’s overall material, so it will look like realistic fur.
The difference between the 2 renders is the adjustment of the main color of the coat. I used Blenders internal render for these tests.
from what I can see, the proportions are pretty good. some muscls though are not completey good defined I think. in overal you’re doing a pretty good job though
Proportions look way off to me. Butt is too small… head and neck are too big and wide, same for the front legs. Post a side view.

I am trying to do a very “built” horse, so the muscle are going to be more defined and a little bit exagerated.

Thanks EricCartman!!! I started throwing layers of details on the face an forgot to keep in proportion… stupid me… Need to put a “Proportion review” on my development timetable! Here’s the model with some of the corrected proportion. Still need to do some adjustments.
As you see still have some problems but I am working on them.
Some points:
Decrease the field of view of your renderings to 15 degrees or less. Anything more than that is useless for evaluation and comparison to existing horse photos.
Arabian horses have one less vertebrae than other horses, and thus a shorter body. Decide beforehand what you’re trying to model and use the appropriate references.
The lower parts of both front and back legs are too narrow front to back.
The ears are too narrow front to back at the base.
The lower front part of the cheek is not right.
The croup is not right.
The tail is too thin.
The profile of the rear underside is not right.
The general profile of the head needs improvement.
The facial crest should not swoop down at the front.
Other than that, it’s looking pretty good.
Hey Gustavo, well the model seems to be going good, specially the head. The problem with the proportions is evident you should try to work on that and it will come out great 
Im modeling a horse as well and but im having some trouble finding good references specially for the head did you use any front or top views? Because good top views are hard to find they really help show the size of muscles etc. Anyways I wanted to know what refs you used.

citizenpayne, you should search using keyword combos such as: “horse conformation”, “horse coat markings” (for diagrams showing frontal views), “horse anatomy” and so on. Leave no stone unturned. It’s a long process.

citizenpayne: I have tons of references and photos that researched and took. Like Bryan Y said, try to use some keywords. Another tip is try to find references on the specific horse breed you want to model. There are lots of details and caracteristics that are tipical of one breed. I will try to compile some of the references. What kind of horse are you modeling?
i’ve always wanted to model a horse! always looking to add to my reference library, i’d really appreciate it if you posted some good reference. good horse ref. is hard to find!!!

marley6611: Here’s a wire of the head with the recent changes and the work I did today on the head’s profile. Still working on it, so… I’ll show the body later because I made some changes on the geometry and it’s a little strange now. 
I will try to post some more wireframes of the body later, as I work on the problems.

the area above the eye could use some work, the ridge you have to the upper right of the eye is very well defined, but the rest of the eyebrow is not. Theres also another ridge that comes from the forehead to the eyebrow which you have not defined at all. Overall edgeflow looks good for deformation; there are a few 5-pointers, but i think you have them isolated to areas that do not deform much, so they should be fine.
