WIP - C4D rendering

#1

Hi, here is some of my school work.
I’ve model, shade, light and render it in c4d. But the rendering times are killing me. 8 hours in 1280x720.
My settings are.
dd:3
min:40
max:400
ss:600
aa 1x2

By the way. Is there some way tutorial to explain the variety of shaders like normal projection, freshnel, etc, and the ways of appliance in the materials?

Best regards,

Bruno

Hey there. Very nice illumination. I triple check to ensure it wan’t a maxwell render ^^
Great work! GI goes well with colofull object.

Can I ask you how many point of light you puted in that scene? Or is this just SUN+HDRI GI ?

hi Bruno,
great work and nice smooth illumination.
the green color laquered shader is a smash hit
did you tried to lower your max settings
(let’s say 3or4 x min=120 or 160) and see what happens to render times (& quality)?

#5

your samples look fine, what would MASSIVELY slice your render times would be lowering your dd to 1. of course, you’ll need to compensate for lack of bounces though.

Hi Guys, thanks for all the comments.

georgedrakakis :
I will check your settings and post tomorow the results

shtl:
I’m using an area light on the major window, some sun, and a light dome.

Thanks for all the help, I will put some stills in a day

add a very very low level ambient light to the scene, then reduce the bounces down to 1, that should result in a much faster render while retaining still acceptable results.

Hi Bruno,

I haven’t got anything constructive to say, so this is a bit off topic. I wanted to congratulate you with the quality of your work. George from Techlimitis has been showing it to us at the last C4D and VW meeting, and it simply looks stunning. Please keep up the good work

Best,
Bart

Thanks for all the support Bart. George is a good friend and is the reason why I’m in C4D now.

Thanks

Bruno

First of all Bart… George says Hello!

Add some interest to the scene. Render times droped a little and now it takes 2 hours top to render a 1280*720 HD.
I’ve used Per’s technique, THANKS! 1 bounce and ambiente omni @10%
This was rendered with 16 160 settings. 300 SS

Thanks for all the tips.
Hope that U enjoy
Bruno
