I love modeling in Wingsed but I have a problem with the Wings3d surface smoothing and normals in Blender. I am using the latest version of Wings and Blender 2.28a with the .obj import script. Thanks.
Wings3d to Blender, Blender Users?

Yeah I think the problem is with Blender… I use .obj to go back and forth between W3D (latest stable) & XSI3.01 all the time without any “normals” issues. If you post up one of the meshes you are having problems with, I’ll see if I can bring it into XSI as I usually do (tonight when I get home)…
I would be willing to bet that it is Blender’s .obj import/exporter because I have seen other .obj I/O’s that have nasty problems (ie… 3dsMax).
Argghhhh! I had expected that was the problem. I don’t use XSI so that route won’t work. I tried the wrl from Wings3d to Blender, no solve. This somewhat slows my workflow but anyway. I have been down this road before with other apps. Thanks.
Well the “normal” problem may be with Blender or Wings3d, but in any case I solved it by selecting the objects in body mode and inverting them before exporting them as obj files for Blender. So back on track with the Wings3d modeling goodness.
