Wings3D-like plugin being added to AoI

#1

Hi to all,

A while ago I posted a link to a tutorial for modelling in Wings3D and then sending the UV-mapped result (via the .obj file format) to ArtOfIllusion:

http://www.beatgroover.com/aoi/tute/

ArtOfIllusion (AoI) is now at version 1.9 and a contributor is adding plugin that allows Wings3D style subdivision modelling (AoI uses triangles by default and this allows ‘quad modelling’).

Just thought I’d mention it here since AoI offers animation and very nice photon mapping/GI/raytracing rendering.

See recent forum posts on SourceForge’s AoI site for details on where to get the plugin.

Cheers!

Duncan, does your tutorial work with the latest Wings version (98.27)?

Re : allows Wings3D style subdivision modelling

Can you boil or narrow down the best parts of the plugin ???

Is it just allowing Subdivision to Quads rather than Triangles ??? That would be nice.

Or does it imply something about new or different modelling capabilities ?
