In lightwave you can select a group of faces, or polys and do a smooth shift to add more geometry… How would one accomplish this in wings?? the only thing i have tried is to grab some faces and extrude them… There has to be something like smooth shift in lightwave… Sorry for asking this question, but I’m really diggin this modeler and i don’t wanna give up on it this time… Also is there any plugins that i should get?? I’m using The newest version of wings…
Wings question... This might be a stupid one.. Lightwave user 2
well, you could select said faces and hit “s” to smooth said area, though this will create division out to the next row re-influence, or you could select edges, and then hit any number key and then hit “c” to connect, hitting “3” then “c” will cut said edges into 3, 4 will do 4 etc.
Hmmm… I think “Extrude Region” is what you are looking for.
There are some cool modeling plugins, but they haven’t been updated to be compatible with any of the recent versions of Wings :hmm: Last I heard they are going to be updated once Wings hits 1.0.
You might be better off not knowing what you are missing
But if you want to check it out, go HERE .
Might also be worth checking out-
Face | Bump
(mouse controls height, +/- keys grow / shrink new boundary edges)
Since LW lacks edge tools (afaik) - looking at results from wings edge tools might also pay dividends -
eg Edge | Extrude -> Normal (same controls as bump)
Without knowing more about what you’re trying to achieve, it’s difficult to make more accurate suggestions.

Edit
I also find Bump / Edge Extrude useful if you constrain the height to zero (hold shift) - and just use +/- to grow / shrink.
Uses range from Inset Region cludges to mech bevels.
I don’t use Bump or Edge extrude that often but like Paul said, that’s the same thing as ‘Extrude Region’ which is what you’re looking for.
