Wow, what great feed back here folks lol… hey, I understand that it ain’t the world’s greatest modeling job or anything like that… that’s really not what this post was about, but rather… hmmm, hey, Carrara has a pretty desent hybrid ray tracer eh… 
and since Wings doesn’t sport the best of renders, I thought perhaps I would check out all of the apps I have on my machine currently, just to see which app would do what…
and… out of C4D, Amapi, trueSpace and Carrara, it is MHO that Carrara won this round… on my machine anyways

Wow, that is quite a statement… you really think Carrera’s render is better than C4d? It would be interesting to see a render from each with the same settings and see which works out best.

Whoa down there JDex … haha, nope, that’s not entirely what I am saying here at all…
Just on my feeble machine, there is only so much time to get aa not bad result from… at 400 mhz, well, let’s just say I could fine tune about a hundred more tweaks over the course that it took me to achieve even this…
and… hmm, whether it is the learning curves required to tweak in any app, I just found that I faired better in Carrara than I did the others… there’s little doubt that anything I could do, there are a million that could do far better with C4D… hell, have yas checked out the car thread? Unfrikking real some of those finishes…
but for me, and my time spent… I can hardly wait to do up another model with Wings3D , maybe some other type of object, and to take this and make it even more complex than the last one, , on and on… and then try out the Carrara renderer again…
in fact, when I do, I will put said model into both Carrara as well C4D, and spend the same amout of time attempting same…
To me it really doesn’t matter what people say about this app or that one, I try them myself eh… and whatever works for me I sort of figure would work for anybody who thinks the same way I do about such things… it’s an objective thing… Ayn Rand likened I suppose… If C4D’s modeling tools were as easy to use for me as are Wings, then I would be using them… but… who knows eh, perhaps the update 8.2 brings all of the things I look for to fruition… the dolly cam is on the mouse eh… duh
as for renders… well, for screenshot type renders to show off, hmmm… what ever worx… Just like I didn’t listen to many and instead of using maya or C4D or what ever, I use Wings, same same for rendering apps… if Carrara is able to bring about the quallity of renders I require to for viewing accross the web, then why not… at best they are only screen size @ 72 dpi and jpeg"d eh I love that part …
Hey, Maxon is about to release the version which coupled with Body Paint, may just all change my ways of thought… but for now… hey… whatever worx with Wings3D, worx for me…
Who know, tommorow I might just be playing with Modo… and liking it… time will tell… but to stick with one app period just doen’t make sense to me, unless it has everything required and your job counts on it… to which, if everybody agreed… that there be such a thing as… one app… then I too would be using such…
and., in the case of concept design, who cares which apps were used eh… it’s the grafx that counts… so long as the eye is pleased… concept design 101

Carrara …
I liked it … but the improper UV subdivision as of this past Spring was a show stopper for me.
It would smooth my model correctly … but not my UVs.
Watch OUT. They indicated that a fix for this was being entertained if not in the works.

Hi MM… Carrara Studio3 will be out soon, as in the fall sometime… and they have beefed up thier UV stuff, like everyone else these days 
… also some new modeling tools, but… I am afraid that all of the attention may have been placed in the “spline room” and the new extrude in such, and perhaps not as much in the vertex modeling room… though then again, I really have no idea what any of this newest version will hold… though me thinx too little too late… if Amapi7 is any indication… which by the way is slow and buggy and could have also done with some very basic tools and approaches to rid of some redundant stuff eh…
As for Carrara, well, the renders that it is capable of are not so shabby ifn’s ya already have the app …
