Wings 3D challenge December

#1

Welcome to the Wings3D December Challenge! Challenges starting in December will be a full month long - start on the first of each month, and be due on the last day of the month.

The subject of the December Challenge is Prehistoric Sea animals. Look up there are loads of interesting shapes and sizes some are simple some are complex. Pieasaurs, Trilobites, Primitive sharks and whales. Animals from the Cambrian explosion. I will accept a Celeocath because it was thought only to be in the Jurassic era and they found one. There are tons of cool shapes of fish and the like. Giant sea turtles etc. If you are lacking inspiration ask I will post a few pics. (fish with exoskeletons how fun is that)
Style may be cartoony or realistic.

 Rules:

You must use Wings3D for ALL of your modeling! Texturing is optional, and may be done in any software package. It will not be considered part of the review of your final submission. You may also choose to rig and pose your model in another software package.

You will also be the judges of all participants. I think a poll added to the thread for each entry would work well. If you have a suggestion that you think will work better, please PM me and I will look into it.

Start your own thread, titled "Wings3D Challenge - December". WIP images and updates are encouraged.

Final submission should be at least 2 still images + wireframes. The winner will receive bragging rights and a portfolio piece, along with the techniques and experience learned throughout the modeling process. This should be the goal of every entrant!

Judging starts on JAN 1st, so get to work!

this challenge sounds cool; its an interesting challenge topic and i expect some interesting submissions. winter break should give me enough time to try to complete something, i just gotta get myself to try and keep at it.

good luck to all contestants

p.s. “Start your own thread, titled “Wings3D Challenge - November”. WIP images and updates are encouraged.”
^I think it should read “December” where it says “November”

Good I look forward to some competition. Won the November by default. Edited my post good call. (Early morning post.) I will try to get the word out to a few other wings forums since we have the time. Still not sure what I will do. I will try to do something interesting and fun. Take a good search for some good referances.

Is it supposed to be a real sea monster or can a combination of several be ok?As long as it looks as if it could have been there.

Sounds good to me I am nto trying to be a stickler I just want everyone to have fun. I think there are many options from real examples so do a bit of research you might find soemthing tha tfits the bill. Like 10 meter long aquatic scropions real. Truth can be stranger than fiction.

I like the topic you chose! I’m going to model a Dunkleosteus. The nice part is that so far my research has revealed that not much beyond the skull has been found preserved, so I guess I have some more artistic liberty with it.

I look forward to seeing everyone’s work progress throughout the month!

edit: Dunkleosteus = BORING! I’m going to just concept something myself, after watching Ice Age 2.
