Wings 0.98.21 is Out!!

#1

Hello to all !!

Wings 0.98.21 is out !!!

/Björn

  • Tools|Snap Image workflow improved.

  • The image viewer (invoked by the Show command in the Outliner
pop-up menu) now has camera controls and a pop-up menu for
    choosing the image size.

  • There is a new Workaround preference in the Misc part of the Edit|Preferences
dialog. It is a workaround for the jumpy camera on Mac OS X 10.3.x (Panther).
By default, it is enabled on Panther and disabled on all other platforms.
When enabled, large mouse moves will be dampened.

  • By Raimo: Implemented “real” arealights. When modelling, arealights
are emulated using either one OpenGL spotlight or pointlight. (Depending
on the geometry of the arealight.) The YafRay exporter exports arealights
    correctly.

  • An object with virtual mirror and vertex colors could cause a hard
crash. (Probably a bug in the OpenGL driver.) Worked around the problem
by not drawing the mirror face. (Problem reported by wasamonkey.)

AutoUV:

  • The AutoUV canvas can be panned and zoomed using the same camera
controls as in the Geometry window.

  • New Tighten command.

What does this mean? Is this feature only for rendering? How does this work?

I’m not sure what snap image will do but the image viewer is well uh…an image viewer supplied within wings3D itself.

Just use the File/Import Image and choose an image, then open the outliner and you should see your image in it,right click on it and choose Show, the image viewer is now opened.

I guess the additionnal controls are what they claim to be,zoom in/out and size up/down as opposed to the auto resize occuring when “drag resizing” the window manually.

The arealight is a polygon while modeling,
letting you change it’s shape.
More on it on the official development forum.
If you use scene lights,it’s represented with one ogl light,
but afaik, once exported to yafray, there is one light per face.
Snap image is pretty sweet

Import an image, then launch tools–>snap image,
select the image you imported.
You’ll see it laid over the viewport.
In the rightclick menu there are commands to move/scale the image.
Select the faces of the model you want the image on,
scale/position the image how you want,
and then rightclick and hit snap image.
Then leave snap mode either from the tools menu or rightclick menu.
You should now see the image in the viewport.
Great for decals and stuff

is there any way to have the image come in non tiled ?

#8

Only way I know is to rightclick after entering snap mode,
and then choosing scale snap image, and then just scale it until it hits the edges of the screen.
