Windows 7 beta

#1

Has anyone here tried Messiah on Windows’ upcoming OS?

I keep getting an ‘Error writing to file C:\Windows\winsxs\Manifests\x86_Microsoft.VC80.MFC_1fc8b3b9a1e18e_8.0.50727.762_x-ww_3bf8fa05.manifest’

… and it won’t go through.

I successfully installed the old version tho. Weird.

Any ideas?

— I did all the Troubleshoot compatibility mode on all previous OS and still get the same error.

I haven’t tried the win 7 beta, but this line made me think that it could be something to do with the visual c redistributable for 2005 not installing correctly. Perhaps try to find a redistributable for vc 2005 that’s compatible with windows 7, install the hasp drivers seperately, and then just copy the program folder over from another computer. That could work. possibly. maybe.

Thanks for the quick reply Ulven! But I finally gave up and restored back to Vista (finally got everything back around am).

Too bad coz win7 looks very promising… way faster than the current Vista.

I had problems installing other softwares too (especially my mmorpgs)… well… can’t complain much. It is BETA after all.

And running the v2 on it wuz sluggish… the graphics card wasnt properly optimized for the new OS.

Anywho, thanks again. Cheers!

Sounds like the C:\Windows directory has write permissions enabled…

You should of installed under a different directory, D:\ would of been my first guess.

Thanks for your reply. I didn’t think the drive would be an issue — I actually installed it on E since D is already partitioned for my working files.

I have it installed under Windows 7 64 bit. You need to activate secret administrator account. It is easy, search the web, same as in Vista. Then install messiah using that account. Finally delete administrator acount and use your own.
