Wind-Force Random

#1

hello,

i’m using xsi 4.0 and syflex.

usally in xsi all randoms are not true randoms they are usind a sid-id, so each simulation, with the same sid looks the same.

in syflex when i’m using the wind-forces each simulation is diffrent.
thats not good.
is it a bug, or what?

anybody with the same problem?
i can not change any parameters, because of the wind force problem it looks diffrent each time and i don’t know if it’s the parameter i have changed or the wind problem.

thanks, tim from germany.

hope you understodd what i mean.

Hi Timbo,

Ya using XSI 4.2 myself with Syflex in it and it does just that.
I believe its not like that in Syflex 3. I have seen a “seed” field in a Maya screenshot of Syflex so perhaps that is the solution.

Hopefully we’ll get Syflex 3 very soon.

from the docs:

Seed
Defines the initial seed of the random values for the wind.
When set to 0, a different seed value is used each time the simulation is recomputed.”

sounds like if you leave it at 0 you will get different results each time. To get the same result you need to pick a number between 1 and infinity

but on my system i don’t have a seed field.
is it because i don’t have the newest version of syflex?

Ya I think that’s why. Might be in Syflex 3 for XSI?
