Will modo get a FBX EXPORT?

#1

I found it’s really useful to have such a plugin.
I use modo export OBJ to max ,sometime the UV lost.
But from LW use FBX to MAX,it’s always perfect.

#2

Yeah I would really like to see this happen. This is huge for me and I would love to see it happen soon. This is a biggie for sure !!! :deal:

#3

MotionBuilder can import obj . So why not go obj to MB to fbx ?

#4

Because I don`t use MB,I use FBX only for exchanging file from MODO to MAX.

#5

You can try Eric’s ASE exporter from Vertexmonkey.com as well

#6

Then Try the stand alone FBX converter.

it’s a free download from the Alias site.

#7

thx to you guys all!
I`ll try your ideas.

#8

Hmm, there are always tools and ways to convert from what you have, but what happened to ‘we will support every known fileformat’ or something along those lines i heard brad mention in the first presentation video’s of modo that apeared some year ago?

#9

Perhaps it’s because the fbx format is mainly used for motion data transfer.
It’ s more fo a side effect and luck that some people are able to use it to transfer geometry
I say luck becuase if you have happened to use fbx enouch you will find that everything doesnt’ translate well all the time.
depending on were you are coming from the models verts can get reordered or the mats get changed.

I mainly go from c4d to MB and back. Every time I bring the fbx file back into c4d my mats have extra properties turned on.

So I wouldnt’ have even thought of Lux worrying about fbx support until they had to worry about animation.
