Why to make groups of curves controllers in rig setups

Hi,

I am new in MAYA Rigging. I have seen that many people make groups of all the curves which they use as controllers. I don’t understand what is the exact advantage of that… because, when i completed my rig setup without grouping all the curves, still it worked fine.

Can anybody resolve this ASAP?

First of all you are in a wrong part of the forum here is animation section but nevermind ,well it is usefull for selections, and moving your character…if you do not have group how you will move your character? The second benefit for rig (lets say adnvanced) you need sometimes empty group or you need make the group some of controllers to give the group custom attributes , and some other has ofcourse…so without grouping you cant make advanced rigging in maya
