I havn’t really thought about mentors on cgtalk before but I have to agree, Jackdeath is up there. A few years ago I posted some whiney thread about being a crap newb thread …yeah that was me…haha, those newb days! eh? I got a few pages of supportive replies by the next morning which was great. The only one thing that i still remember from the thread was Jackdeath’s (a few from Jason Schliefer). I dont even recall what i was whining on about!
Jsckdeaths quote:
"There are two kinds of people in the world.
-
The type that go out there and do/make stuff
-
or the type that pumps gas for the first type.
Get off you ass and get to it. If it was so dam easy we would all be rich and driving Benzs.
Want to do something easy? Drive forklifts. Work in a bank. Be a janitor.
If you don’t have the balls or the heart, then give up now, because this is a lifestyle, not just a job."
Jason’s went something like:
"then do it! that’s all there is to it. do it. doitdoitdoitdoitdoit. If you don’t do it, you won’t get better. If you DO do it, you will get better. simple as that. keep doing it, keep getting better, keep reading, keep learning, and so what if some 13 year old kicks yer ass now. You’ll be kickin some 40 year old’s ass . And that 40 year old will be kickin some 30 year old’s ass, and that 30 year old’s ass will be kicked by some 25 year old, and that 25 year old pretty much sucks (so I dunno what’s wrong with that 30 year old, but you get the idea).
just start workin."
anyways, I think it was about time that we started appreciating all the contributions that some of the members here give.
do it !!
