Hi Guys,
I’m starting this guy and wonder if someone can see who he is at this early stage
Yes it is… :applause: :applause: :applause:
Was he hard to recognize? I still have work to do but feel free to criticize now if I’m off somewhere :keenly:
I will add one of his famous expression soon
he does need an expression, to break the symmetry look.
very good job you are doing.
You need the refine the shape more… Didn’t think of him at all. Maybe if you nail the nose and the ear I will be able to see him
I did a small animation. Looking at it, you’re not too far. Of course in my reference there is a little angle down, but you see my point

Thx for the animation, It helps me a lot
I don’t know why but I’m always trying to get there without a texture plane / Photoshop help :curious: I want to test my observation skills I guess (and I fail continuously :argh: )
Anyway, Here I am…
Here is where I am now. Waiting for your advice guys (not only scote). I know that the mouth needs some adjustments, as well as the eyes (look too small for me). Maybe the noze is not too flat enough… But to be sincere, I’m too much in it to see clearly :curious:
I’m using that image as a reference:

Hey there nice sculpting, not to be discouraging but i think you had more likeness in your first post. Its a very nice sculpt though so dont feel bad. I have self spent quite a lot of time in zbrush trying sculpt faces and its one of the most difficult things to sculpt.
Remeber to look at pictures from a sideview as well as front view, its easy to get stuck just trying to get the frontview to look right. I think the eyebrows are to low, the lines from the side of the nose that goes down towards the mouth are to deep and sharp and he looks a little bit to “fat” i guess.
Keep working on it and you will eventually get there
I’m sculpting for a while. And yes, heads are the most difficult thing to create. Especially if they are famous. And this is the purpose of this exercise: I would like to push my observation skills.
Thx a lot for your input, it helps me a lot
You need to share you side view also… Maybe it just a matter of pushing some things. And everything is in his eyes
Yep I noticed that yesterday evening… I already did a lot of modification for the side view… Thx for your image because I was not able to find a clear side view from him :keenly:
It was easy like going on Google images and type Denzel Washington side view.
If you know his movies you are try to grab better resolution. It’s from the Bone Collector with Angelina Jolie. But On the side view I shared, he has his head a bit tilt toward us. It’s not a perfect side view.

I should have missed something when I did my research. I ended up using VLC screenshots from man of fire. Anyways, again, thx for your help. It helps me a lot to build my workflow.
Aside that, I would like to know how to unload unnecessary subtools when I save my file as a project. Any idea?
Don’t really know your workflow… but are you using the GoZ? because look like you have your old wip head there… You shouldn’t have them… You should have only one head that you export in Maya with GoZ.
For the subtools accumulated, dont know… that doesnt affect my workflow so far, if this is just a matter of cleaning your window, save subtool and regather them in a new project
