White blur effects

Hi people.
I wanna do an effects like the trailer of “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre”.
The images becomes white in some point and then grow up unless all the screen is not all white. Any suggestion? thanks a lot!
PS: i’m very newbie to shake.

I think you talking about an additive dissolve.
Don’t know Apple Shake, but I think this should work.

Add a new layer, totally white, place it in the timeline, where you need it, with the required length etc. Change it’s color mode to Add, add a mask and play around with its shapeand opacity or transparency or how this called in Shake. Maybe you change the blend mode, but I think, this is an idea to start.
