Which version?

O.K. all you experts out there which version of A:M is this?

Hard to say from the screenshot. If I remember correctly, both v7.x and v8.x shipped with that manual. The only way to really tell what version it is, is to look at the CD Volume Label when it’s in a drive. Or if you know what character is on the CD, that would help as well…

8.0 I’d say. My manual for 7.0 was different, with ring binding. But there’s no hard connection between version/manual, after all I got the manual for 9.5 with the 10.5 upgrade…

I have that manual at home. It says AM 2000…or 8.

OK Thanks I found that on ebay. Think I’ll bid on it then upgrade to the newest version. I’m wanting to learn animation and decided to start with A:M. so I’ve been lurking in your forum. Lots of great people here. I’m sure I’ll be around with alot of questions…

Does Hash honour upgrades from second hand licenses? You might want to check that out with them 1st…

They said they did as long as the original owner hadn’t upgraded

The key here is to make sure the person selling the software agrees to send you a license transfer with it. In other words they need to send you a piece of paper that has their signature on it and that says they are transfering their license of the software to you, and include their serial number. This should also be sent to hash so that they know that the other person is no longer the owner of the software. If this isn’t done then the transfer is not legal, and that person is technicaly selling you an illigal copy of the software.

A lot of people don’t realize that selling off an old copy of their software is illigal unless they agree to transfer the person all rights to the software including all future upgrades. This is the reaon hash won’t support most ebay sales of A:M with out proof of a licence transfer. To make sure every thing is on the up and up you might also want to give hash a call and see if they have modified this policy as I looked into this about a year and a half ago for one of my students at Umass who saw a copy selling on ebay for $50. It turned out the person had upgraded and claimed that they did not know that it was illigal to sell off their old copy, and promptly removed the auction from ebay.
