Hexagon 2 te da problemas?.. q tipo de problemas?.. yo lo use y me fue de maravillas.

which is your model app?
Silo. Definetly.
At one point I was an avid Hexagon supporter. But its just not useable as it is. At least not for me. And I’ve found Silo has a much smoother workflow.
I think modo is best, but Hexagon is cheap and it is like modo in many features.
Why do you think hexagon is not good enough?
i bounce between a bunch
most of the time. It would be modo. Modeler of course is always there with all of its plugins for any specific work. Maya if i feel that history is useful or if im doing light modeling for a maya project. Im playing around with silo but im kind of torn between displacement painting abilities and the fact that i feel its kind of redundant, although i just might buy it since it is so cheap. Probably for purely displacement work.
I would have to say that silo has a bit better workflow then modo, but modo kinda redeems itself with its awesome renderer and does have really nice texturing tools, something that silo would sorely lack if i start getting into displacements, still kind of on the fence on silo - i have the demo version but i think ill hold off until 2.0 demo is released.
you wrote --“silo has a bit better workflow then modo”
Could you elaborate on this? I am very fond of lightwave’s modeler, and modo also, and am curious what aspects of silo seem better than modo. I have heard several recommendations for silo, but haven’t really spent any time with it to understand why, do you think it would be more usefull in the longterm?
“shortterm” or immediately, I am finding that faster, newer tools and workflow still aren’t quite as easy to utilize versus a few years of experience with a different application.
Thanks.

Mostly I use modo 2 for a complicate model. Silo is for character and fast tweak modeling. ZBrush for detail.
Well, i’ve noticed that nobody mention about zbrush for modeling. i’m sure that many people here is using zbrush too.
I’ve tried wing 3d before but i can’t understand how people make model with it. I can’t find weld point and tweak with easy way like Element move (modo) or Tweak in Silo.
Silo. Testing the Public Beta ATM and it rocks.
Best modeling app I´ve ever used :buttrock:![]()
I mainly use LW for modeling and ZBrush for displacement painting.
But I think I will buy Modo, I’m just waiting for the animation tools…

Yes you are right, i forgot to mention and i must say i am adict to ZBrush, i love that program.
Thanks for the remind!

Spikeworkx,
Just bought SIlo, and only have had a few minutes so far to play with it. I tried the demo first and liked the intuitive use and feel.
Is there a set of docs for download? PArticularly interested in how to get to the way to use it as I saw on their video of the upcoming release, which appeared more like sculpting in clay (which has great appeal to me as a sculptor).
Thanks,
Rick
To use the displacement functions “paint modeling” you need to download the 2.0 public beta from www.silo3d.com ´s news section, however you need your serial to activate it since it´s only for registred users. If you already got it it´s just to install it and paint away.

That might help those looking for how silo2 functions. Though keep in mind this is still an early beta. Video is from Teyon.
Thanks, Brian. It was a nice demo. I think I’ll be okay with what to do. I’m looking for something to tell me how to get to that menu/module to affects the mesh in that “sculpting/painting” mode.
Is there a section of the docs I can check or a short tutorial that shows that?
I’m looking for a quick overview to get the main elements of the overall process to get from staring with the first obj creation, to sculpting it with detail.
Thanks again,
Rick
Probally the best place to start would be the how-to forum. They have a few text only tutorials on how to get started.
Find the forum here: http://www.silo3d.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=26
The displacement one should be a good start: http://www.silo3d.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6805
the overall flow and organization of tools. the ability to popup a customizeable menu over your selection that allows you to do the most commonly used operations in a very compact way. The modeling feels more slick, the functions are very context sensitive, it does everything that modo does but with absolutely no clutter whatsoever (modeling wise). silo feels like a lightweight specialized tool, just fire it up. you will find that you can jump right in and just start making stuff. For me it just seems slicker out of the box, i woudl really have to customize the hell out of modo to get to the same level as silo.
this a purely personal thing though… i still choose modo as my overall favorite.
