Where to Flamingo questions belong?

#1

Hi All,
Just joined today.

My first question is where it is appropriate to post Flamingo questions? Some of the things I’m interrested in are lighting or texturing with Flamingo. Are those kind of questions best posted in this forum or in the ones specific to the “General Techniques” forums?

I also have some order of operations questions about things like what comes first the texturing or lighting… chicken or the egg.

Finally I have questions about layering, and in general topics related to organizational issues using Flamingo. Are they best addressed here or in other sections.

I’ve been using Rhino for some time and am reasonably comfortable developing the boat product models that are my primary focus. My rendering capability, however, feel generall more trial and error than well organized. I’m hoping these forums will help me move farther along the best path.

While there may be better programs than Flamingo, I don’t believe “more capability” is what I need, but rather figuring out how to use the capability that I have.

Any thoughts on the above will be appreciated.

because flamingo is only for rhino i think it best you post here.

texture and lighting… i think it best to decide what you are trying to achieve first.

I think flamingo is best used for clay renders due to its limits…i use it with photoshop if i want something that looks sortof real. really depends on the situation

I have seen some credible boat renderings that were done with Rhino and Flamingo and while I’m certain there are more powerful combinations, I don’t think plunging into a program with even more complexity is a good idea until I get a handle on manipulating what Flamingo does offer.

Most of what I do are painted surface with not a lot of other texture (at least at this time).

I’ve attached, hopefully, a couple of images that I’ve done

there appears to be nothing wrong with your model so thats a plus

have you had a look at the boat renderings on the flamingo/rhino site? i think there may be a small tutorial in the flamingo book worth looking at as well
