Where is the "discussion gone?

so was it removed because many similar threads exist, or because of the content itself? If it’s the first, why not simply merge them? If it’s the second, can you point out what was ‘problematic’? the phrase ‘cgtalk is dead’?

No sense in arguing this point, people. It’s their playground, their toys, and their rules. If we don’t like it, well, tough. Not saying that it’s right or wrong. That’s just how it is. Those of you who have either been a longtime member or lurker know this to be true. This is not the first time, nor will it be the last, that CG Talk has been guilty of such aggressive moderating. CG Talk runs a tight ship and the system heavily favors both the mods/admin and status quo. Fairness is relative. To put it bluntly, our being allowed to post here is a privilege, not a right. I’ve been part of the online CG community for nearly 20 years now. This is just how CG Talk does things. Don’t act so shocked.

To those in charge, I just want to say this. Handle these redundant threads as you see fit. Close them. Delete them. Print them out and fold them into paper hats. It’s your call. However, I implore you to to please internalize these criticisms and take them seriously. Some are mean, but most are largely meant for your benefit and the continued survival of this community. This dissatisfaction is coming from somewhere and should be addressed. In those 20 years, I’ve seen many great forums, small and big, come and go. CG Talk is not above such things.

Anyway… That’ll be the last that I say on this topic. Thanks.

Actually, we have been listening and will continue to do so.

It’s great that traffic is good, but isn’t it also important to judge the quality of the discussion going on and to listen to the people who are actually posting? You can’t simply dismiss valid crit based on traffic stats.

OK–checking out that thread. thanks

These threads are hugely damaging. If I was the owner/s of CGTalk - I’d prune them too. Now that’s not to say that the suggestions and concerns are valid - its just that these threads are very toxic and can put off new arrivals if this is the first thing they see. It’s a very bad advert.

Everyone has had there say - now it’s time to move forward and stay supportive.
