Where can I find quadruped models with good topology?

#1

Hey, thanks for taking the time to read this! Sooooooooooooo…I’m trying to make a quadruped autorig script and was wondering if anybody might know of a good place to get reliable quadruped models?

I’ve been to both Turbosquid and CGtrader a number of times, but the models tend to be somewhat hit or miss, topology-wise. Sometimes a model can look fantastic, but have a number of topological issues that just become a pain in the butt to clean up. So, is there any place that I can go to find quadruped models and not have to worry about topology being an issue?

My apologies if this is a silly question, but thank you for your time, regardless! Cheers!

There a good model you can get here: http://www.rigging101.com/cds.htm
The guy also has a series of video tutorials called “Quadruped Friendly Rigging”, it’s kind of a follow on to Jason Schleifer’s “Animator Friendly Rigging”. The series is available for free here: http://www.riggingdojo.com/rigging-101-rigging-dojo-present-quadruped-friendly-rigging/, maybe it will give you some good ideas.

I second what Harry said. Those tutorials are great starting point for quadruped rigging.

It would be cool to see that once you finish it. Good luck!
