Where are the animators?

#1

there is no more challenges?
why this part of the forum dont work? at least monthly?

#2

where are the animators? I have been checking for weeks! I want to get in on some challenges and talk to some fellow animators

#3

well thats the way it goes, animators rarely visit this/these parts - if ever

#4

Hey I too was hoping for something to popup here however it might be a while. but here’s a crazy idea, if y’all want we could start our own mini challenge or something.

#5

I think we should try and get something going, even if its just ideas and WIPs

#6

I’m game how good are you guys with your animating? I’m still very new but non the less i’ll do it with yall.

#7

I am pretty basic in my skills as well but I would be willing to try anything from a bouncing ball to character animation.

#8

I am in the process of leanring character animation so would be up for a challenge… Don’t have masses of free time but it is quality over wauntity right!

#9

I been doing it for a little bit but I definitely would like to get into a more frequent habit of doing so. I’m game for some new challenges :bounce:

#10

I’ve been doing 11 Second Club on and off, but I wouldn’t mind some challenges that aren’t as focused on movie clips.

#11

Not sure about others but i guess that problem with animation is that it takes a lot more time to get it done right. I’ve personally tried to work for 11sec club as well but never got further than “wanted to” part. Always something else kicks in and after like 10-12 hours work per day… I really don’t have energy left for some more on the side work.
Also had one start here for animation challenge but never moved from blocking.
In any case there is nothing to stop someone who is learning animation to post their tests and stuff and get reviews from others here.
Review takes a couple of minutes really, but animation it self eats a lot more
Cheers and keep animating!

I’d be up for some sort of challenge. Funny, as I was just yesterday looking for other competitions than the 11second club. I think they’re running out of dialogue choices, and I haven’t been overly impressed with the last couple clip selections. I’d just assume find my own.

I completely agree with Mirko on not having enough time. or the desire to work 8-10 hour days, then go home and animate for the next few hours. However, learning to animate is just like learning to ride a bike. Practice! It’s the only way to get better.

On the same note, If I add up the hours I’ve sat numb in front of my display, trying to come up with a great shot idea, or even a short. It would certainly seem I have the time.

So I’d say I’m up for it. at least to have a place to bounce shot ideas around if nothing more. It saddens me to still have some of my student work on my demo reel.

All the Best!

Topics in this forum are not appetizing, the stories aren’t compelling the way the aught to be, like.a good example of an animation challenge would be something like:

Horror
The Awakening
Attack of the Slime People
Zombie Island
Night of the Scarecrow
Rage of the Leprechaun
Nightmare of the Coven

And the rules and regulation should stimulate the competitors eg.
Quote: All participant are required to submit the concept art, illustration,
storyboards, and their movie script.make it fun and professional. Not to
intimidating and uninsiring for starting artist.

Fix those problem and this forum would be a bigger success than HCMC forum.

I totally agree with you.I could take up the task of moderation this challenge if you guys all agree to that. The topics would be interesting and is up for debatable argument. The rules and regulation how ever is not up for debate after we all set it up and agree to them.rules should be fair.

keep in mind if we do this its going to be professional.
concept art
storyboards
illustrations
movie script

this sounds much more inspiring.
should we open separate threads for every entry/production progress? or the moderator will come up for a temporary solution for this? :applause:

I decided to use this extact thread seeing that no terms of use are violated.Contestant would be required to submit the still here using a simple title form as follows.

" HCAC"
example if the challenge is entitled “glitch " the the heading for every image submited would have to start with “HCAC_#1_“Glitch”””.

i would ask for ure aid to stimulation others interest to visit this page and pass around the news that as of this date "Wednesday may 18th 2011 " This is going to be a separated event for all animated inspired art called “HCAC”.

                 Hard Core Animation Challenge

brought to you my the request of forum members who finds it necessary to have a professional animated challenge. The rules and regulations must then be conceived and terms of use agreed by all forum users.

I will come up with the rules that would govern all and it will be up a discussion on the weather it is sufficient to sustain a healthy and wealthy number of people interested.

And i think it would excite the people who take part in this forum would be able to have a least own day in every week to communicate ideas, problems and request to this forum on skype.it free just download it.we could talk, write or what ever on that particular day…

Thsi is officially the beginning Of the HCAC
