Just trying to get a feeling about this be fore I dive head first into commiting to a certian size.
To me I prefer a site in a new window at 640X480,I dont like it taking over the browser window or taking over the whole monitor.
So do you have some suggestions for this?
I know you can limit it to the browser window but I really like sites running flash to remain small.
Whats your favorites site resolution????
most people on the internet use 800X600 so you should build your site to what most people can view
I agree, I like flash intros to be at the most 800x600, yet I like sites to be 1024x768.
It does depend a lot on the content, but with flash as you often need to see the whole window 800/600 is fine.
You’d be surprised how many ppl also use 1024768 actually… probably because they own a monitor like mine… which only goes to maximum of 1024768 with 85hz… I caa go higher, but it flickers because the refresh rate for 1280 only goes to 60hz.
For Flash sites a maximum of 800*600 sounds good to me too. ![]()
Your best bet is to put a tracker on your site, run the site for a couple of months, then adjust it to the most common screen size.
That, or use cutsie techniques that enlarge or reduce your site so window size isnt a big issue. However, it does tend to be a bit undone when someone shrinks the window so small that it interferes with the look of the site.
The tracker I use for my site is
Extreme Tracker
And it is free.
