What would you like to have?

#41

I would also like the weld points tool to be a bit more logical.

You should download the Weld Tools plugin from PluginCafe. There’s also a plugin (free) called Weld Manager that’s pretty good, but I can’t remember where I got it.

#42

They could extend to edges the welding function too

World peace - but I’d settle for a pony

I know you guys love to chat about “what could be”, but I’ll insert the standard reminder here that the only way to make sure your suggestion is heard is to send it directly to MAXON. And don’t worry about lobbying myself or the tech guys here - those that fill out the form have more input into the future of CINEMA 4D than we do.

I agree with you Rick, you’re definitely right, but the most important fact that emerges from this thread is that most of the users would like to have the same things. Nobody wrote “give me the Toy Story button” or “i want Renderman included in the price”, it seems most of us would like to see tha same old things, quite interesting imo. Compare this list to the LW users list for LW8, you’ll be quite surprised, they asked the sun and the moon to be included in the package. :wavey:

Wait, are you saying we’ll get a pony with the next release?! We’re getting PONIES!! :)

#46

Will it be a new primitive object? Nooo i don’t want a pony i want a moka!!! :scream:

#47

On a more serious note, what do you guys think about compiling a list from this thread–maybe with some more detail/description/reasoning–and turning it into a sort of petition to send to the Maxon recommendation form? Everyone who’s in general agreement with the requests could put their name at the bottom, and either one person could submit it or each signor could submit it.

#48

I started this thread exactly for this reason Adam, so count me in

Don’t get too excited. Am I the only one that remembers this atrocity? It’s a sad blemish on CINEMA 4D’s history. We don’t have a very good track record with “equine” features.

#50

hahahahahahha! :scream:

#51

Thanks Adam, I haven’t tried the weld tools yet but the blurb sounds like it does what I want.

AdamT: more power to this forum…where do i click/sign etc.

i would like to see any sorts of improvements in modelling maxon can come up with. i want to see point or poly modelling improved or speeded up some how (and improvement on its current feature set)…i would like to see selection tools improved (much like the plugin selectplus…only plus plus if you get my meaning)…i also agree with someones earlier comments about weld tools…i would like this improving also. At the moment when people poly model they are using a whole host of plugins to do it…this in my opinion could be more successful implemented within the base program (eg cutter, saw, spin poly, make thicker, loft/edge extrude)…and no all you plugin programmers i’m not having a pop at you…but these should really be core functions by now…i think we get far to carried away in the high end stuff and far to often forget to take time to think about the basics…that said wouldn’t mind… a shader tree, ngons, voxels…heh heh

ps…oooh yeah and i want a toy story button…that makes ponies!!! yesterday…:wip:

ngons is a basic request, pretty much all other apps have that functionality

#54

Too bad it will be so difficult to implement :hmm:

#55

I’ll try to compile the common suggestions over the weekend and put it into a persuasive form. Then I’ll post it here and you guys can suggest changes and/or agree to sign on. I’ll think about the form a little bit too–maybe it’ll be a bullet list and whoever signs can vote for each item. The list would include a tally of how many signees voted for each item.

#56

Here we go again with one of these threads.

I’m happy with R8 (V8), but since we’re doing it, I would like the following.

1.Object to Object Smooth joining (smoothing) with weighting control.

  1. The oft-requested Texture tree (don’t you love re-copying that complex SLA fusion texture into every channel you used it in after making the tinyest tweak !!?)

  2. I suppose that N-Gon thing is a good one (or whatever feature that can help aide managing an out of control mesh for those of us that arent masters of the art of poly placing–OK its a cop out!)

  3. Integrated Dynamics (most likely achieved with Xpresso and TP?)

  4. HISTORY MANAGER (ala Photoshop/Maya) so we can save scripts, or go back to a specific point in a project. The ability to save the history script with the project–ala formZ. That would be awesome.

  5. Maybe an Amorphium/Maya Artisan-like tool for more control of sculpting and refining a model.

MODULES:

A landscape /environment module–sure to be a hit among archetects and science people–not to mention everyone else. Thinking more in terms of World Builder/ World Constuction Set–moreso than Bryce. Would be nice to design a terrain based on the features you needed to create (mountain ranges, bodies of water, etc) and have better integration of texturing these based on built in heightmap/ falloff settings.

Of course we can do all this now manually, but would be nice to have a head start with a module. And I’m sure if Maxon did make it --we’d still find a reason to complain about it.

#57

No need to make a module for that, go buy ozone 2.0 plugin, it’s better

And for point n°6… have you already tried with magnet tool? it’s really really good for that…

#58

I’ve already done a rough list AdamT, send me your email address with a private message, i’ll send you the list so you can elaborate it if needed. My english’s not as good as yours since i’m italian. :wavey:

#59

Hi Third Eye

Yep–use the Magnet tool all the time–and with a symmetry hn object, you’ve got some of the same functionality as Amorphium/ Artisan.

However I don’t believe you can use the magnet tool so the push and pull of the points are relative to the objects center/core. For instance, in Amorphium, if you’re using your magnet/ deform tool on a sphere, for instance. the deformation can be locked to the surface direction. So you can push and pull bumps and valleys from and into your sphere.

Unless I’m missing something, In C4d the magnet tool can only be constrained to X, Y and Z movement.

As for Ozone, i was under the assumption that it is only a sky/fog generator. I’m suggesting a complete landscape terrain designer like World Construction Set by 3dNature:

http://www.3dnature.com/

http://3dnworld.com/gallery.php

Or World Builder by animatek:

http://www.digi-element.com/index.shtml

http://www.digi-element.com/images_awb20.shtml

http://www.digi-element.com/demos_awb20.shtml

A bit lofty of a request I know–but if the features and price were right, would be a hit I’m sure.

(EDITED MESSAGE FOR SPELLING)

Ok, i’ll put all these things in that request form, i also would like to have Artisan tools into C4D. And for the module… don’t you think it would be better if we asked a connection to a 3rd party module like those you mentioned? I think these poor coders should focus their work on modeling features and important features like animation tools. What do u think about it?
