What video card do you recomend?

#1

IMPORTANT: this is not a fan vs fan thread, be nice.

I’m working on iMac, and I’m about to sell it to buy a customized PC, I will be doing 3D, Heavy renders and particle simulations.

I was wondering what video card should I go with: AMD FirePro or Nvidia Quadro?
some say Quadro is just marketing, some say Quadro is best, some say FirePro is way better, some say FirePro is cheap as is quality is.

What do you recommend me? (based on experience or knowledge)

I’m not a fan of any, but I found this quite interesting:

Ignore any benchmarks from vendors of products, theyll always pick things to show their product is the best. Look for independent benchmarks run by people who have no financial incentive to show any particular product as being the best.

If you want any useful advice then you need to tell us more. What software will you use and what are you hoping the gfx card will do? You mention rendering and simulations, for the most part, things that have little to do with the gfx card.

more specific? o.o

3D: Houdini + Maya + 3Ds Max + Cinema 4D (no problem with them all),
ZBrush in high poly does slows down
2D: After + PS (no problem)
Texturing: Mari (slows down sometimes, would like to speed up baking also)
Rendering: Vray, Maxwell, Arnold (would be cool to speed-up things too)
Tracking: Boujou

Other Programs:
Nuke: slows when doing 2k resolution
Massive Prime: doesn’t work properly without Nvidia

Simulations:
Realflow and Naiad particle sim
FumeFX

Also I have an out topic question:
How do I proxy models in maya? (to animation and rigging)
I wanna proxy a low poly, but Idk how
