what kind of videoo card are u using ?

#4

BUMP
HIS ATI Radeon X1650 Pro Ice-Q (not overclocked yet)256 MB
Nice card, a bit above average.

#5

i use an ati firegl v5100
works fine

can handle a few mill polys before any performance impact

#6

XFX GeForce7800 256MB with NGO driver 91.47
no overclocking
no problems with Mudbox 1.06 or C4D 10.1’s enhanced OGL

#7

does anyone compare with QuadroFX1500 and Firegl 5200 ?

#8

good choice of card.im running one of them ^ aswell.payed £100 for it brand new :stuck_out_tongue:

i had 12million polys and still smooth viewports.

#9

luck ******! i payed more that that
although the drivers it comes with are terrible ( courpted maya files untill i updated)

#10

I’ve got a quadro fx 3450. Seems it was not a good choice, because everything gets sluggish at about 2 mio polys. I’ve read about a bug with quadro cards and I’m not sure whether it was fixed yet. If anyone could shed some light on this, I would be really thankful.

edit: I got 169 points at the benchmark by the way.

#11

i didnt hav a problem with the drivers.then again i was running max not maya.i still updated the drivers tho

i need to get a new card tho, bought STALKER and cant play it cus i need shader model 3 (v5100 only supports sm2) 8800 or x2800 here i come lol

#12

quadro fx 3450 gets sluggish only 2 million polys   … have u tried to upgrate motherboard chipsets driver ?!

i have a qeustion , i run mudbox on 2 different computer ,one with 6800ultra.core 2 e6300,another is p4 3.0cg with ati 9550.
guess what happened ?

when i subdivied odject to 2million polys,6800ultra got sluggish but 9550 still soomthly.
is Ati suitable for mudbox than NV ?

#13

ive also wondered that cus ive experienced the same thing^ but that wud be silly from skymatter, especially considering most workstation cards are nvidia anyway

#14

Yes, it does! I have the most current drivers. I’m now even using NGO drivers, with no difference. I really hope there will be a fix or something from skymatter soon.

#15

try and find other people using the same card as you and see if they have the same problem.if they arent then it must be something on ur pc. find out what you can first.it may be a few select people with problems with that card and mudbox. email skymatter, they might no whats going wrong and its probably just a one little tick box lol

#16

nVidia quadro fx4500. been up to 1.2 million polys with no lag in mudbox. if i import it into 3d studio max, that’s another story…

#17

What happens once you reach about 2 million Polys?

#18

haven’t hit that yet. in max it lags so bad i either ctrl+alt+del out or just walk away for a while and come back to see if it’s moved.

i’m working on xp64 with dual opteron 265’s and 4 gigs of ram to go with the quadro fx4500.

#19

I got up to around 3. 5 million polys, using a nvidia quadrofx 4400 with 2 gigs of ram. pretty sluggish, but around 2.5 million polys is ok.

#20

i have nv7600

but how i know how many polygons can i uce by vga card???

#21

geforce Go 7600 here.
My laptop is very sloppy when my mesh get over 100k : /

#22

My card a nvidia g-force 6800 go 256mb

subdiv a cube to div 8 = 1,6 milj is my max to work in.

hope a newer version of mudbox will make 2milj possible for me without a problem,

Could maybe be done by hiding the polys not in view automaticly, so it wont be noticeble for the user, but will give 2x more polys possible, putting some game engine tricks in there maybe.

#23

A GeForce 7900GTX and I am quite happy
