Hello. I am having some major trouble with ZBrush for the last few weeks, because my models constantly get corrupted, this never used to happen before!
First, I was using 4r6 when I created my female character, she had 18 subtools in ZBrush and the highest I could go was 7 subdivisions for each, sometimes 8 depending on how many tris/polys were on level one of the base mesh. And what happened is ZBrush crashed on me while saving the document, however, the document was 1.18 gb in size!
Here’s a breakdown of what I could or could not do!
What I can do:
[ul]
[li]The document will open
[/li][li]I can select each subtool individually
[/li][li]View materials on each subtool
[/li][li]Render the whole document
[/li][/ul]Zbrush crashes when:
[ul]
[li]When I try to go up or down a subdivision level, ZBrush will crash
[/li][li]Using UV Master, Decimation master or really any plugin on any of the subtools
[/li][li]Viewing selected polygroups individually
[/li][li]Exporting to OBJ file
[/li][/ul]The specific error that comes up when ZBrush crashes is:
ZBrush Executable has stopped working: A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available:
And when I open ZBrush back open, I get:
Your previous session of ZBrush was abnormally terminated.
What’s weird is that it’s not on that just one document ZBrush crashes when I lower a subdivison level, it does the same thing to the previous copies of the document too!
I’ve tried creating forums elsewhere and searching for similar issues and nobody had the solution I was looking for, so I called Pixologic support by phone. The only information I got out of that call was that they couldn’t give me support for 4r6 so I must upgrade to 4r7. But he did give me a hint saying ZBrush 4r6 was a 32-bit only program while my computer is a 64 bit, and 4r7 has 64 bit support but it’s a coding overhaul.
I was told to save constantly under different file names & he recommended I start my model over in ZBrush 4r7, so I upgraded to 4r7 & start my sculpt over.
So I remade all my polygroups and sculpted the first three subtools out of the same 18 I had before & when it quicksaved, it corrupted my whole file again. Once more, when I go down to a lower or higher subdivision level, ZBrush crashes. And my previous saved documents are having the same issue.
Is it because of the RAM on my computer, even though I’m using the 64 bit version of 4r7? Here are my computer specs:
Dell Inspiron N7110
Intel Core i7 processor 2.00 GHz
8 GB of RAM (7.90 available)
64-bit Operating System
Windows 7
My highest level I’ve ever gone to was level 8 for each subtool, but I always try to go no higher than level 7. Do you think my computer can handle level 7 with only 8GB of RAM?
I’ve tried re-installing ZBrush on and off, getting rid of the downloaded online matcaps, deleting quicksave files.
Why is ZBrush crashing on me whether I save the document myself or if it quicksaves? Please help me! I can’t get any help from anyone else.
Thank you for your time!
Sincerely,
Justin
