what is the rate for a freelancer

Hi to the entire artist community that makes a living from digital painting.

I have a question to all and it can be a bit personal.

What is the rate for a book cover digital painting and other ways of media implementing art work? (all 2d digital painting)

I just want the basic if you can help for I am looking to swap careers from designer to painter. Is it worth it and can I make a living?

If you can help please do all input is important from junior level to senior level.
