What Dynamics system should i use?

#1

Hey guys i am learning maya and i plan to buy a dynamic system for maya.
I heard a lot of guys talking about Karakota,Thinking particles,Real flow,…etc.
01.So should i really need to have one of these?? or can i just use nDynamics to get my results???
02.Does nDynamics can do the things (simulation to rendering awesomeness) those plugins like Karakota can do?
03.Pls suggest me a good dynamic system worthy of the prize ??
04.also Should i also need to buy a Cloth simulating softwere like marvolous designer??? or ncloth will do fine??(i plan to do modeling in characters and archite…r

tnx.

Hey,
I’d definitely suggest staying with Maya.
For starters, nParticles are incredibly powerful. That said, I started learning by using the regular dynamic solver inside Maya, which I think is a great way to go because you have to sort of create the things you want from scratch, more or less, whereas the nDynamics system (which is really really nice) creates a lot of things for you.

So, no you don’t need all that other fancy software to start off with. Nothing comes quick, so if you really want to learn dynamics, there’s no easy way around it and no special software. It takes time like anything else. If I were you I would start going through tutorials, definitely read the documentation when necessary, and the best advice I got a while ago was to learn MEL, which I would recommend along with Python.

As far as nCloth goes, it’s fantastic, but finicky. Like everything else inside Maya, things don’t just work by themselves. You kind of have to work hard to get things to behave nicely. But it’s worth it. That’s why so many people use it.

My two cents.
