Really simple question, because I’m curious. What do you use your CG software for? There’s a lot of 3D software out there (most of it made/bought by Autodesk
), and to be honest a lot of it is ambiguously similar.
So, what do you use your CG software for? Do you like Softimage for game assets? Max for character design? Blender for icon development?
Primer: I use 3ds Max for hard surface modeling and character development. I have the Autodesk Entertainment Suite, and am unfamiliar with Softimage and Maya, so I don’t really use them. I use Mudbox for sculpting faces (sometimes hard surface detailing), and Motionbuilder for animations. I’m no character artist, so I like to use MakeHuman to create “body templates” which I retopologize using Max Graphite Tools (curious to know what others think of that practice, as I feel kind of like I’m cheating:D).
Thoughts? (Love to hear from 2D artists as well)
