What about Physics

#1

Physics is on the rising and are IMO a real cool thing, what about if wings could have a physics plugin that gives us the ability to simulate cloth, liquids, hard physics, soft physics etc. This for Making scenes for rendering would be cool, like i´m making a scene that have a plate full of fruit and to put them inside i rotated moved and rotated again and lust like 3 minuts make them not clip trought each other, but if i could make them a physic object them i didn´t need to have all that work to place them inside the plate i would just click on the simulation and they would fall in and not clip because of the colitions. And water you could make some real cool renders with water simulation, or even give cloth to a caracter and isted of model all the riples and stuff the cloth physics would do the job for you. What you guys think about it, there are some real nice and free physics engines like the bulletone used by Blender or the Newton Game Dynamics the ODE engine or even better the PhysX by AGEIA that is free if you make hardware support on your games or apps. I,m no coder so this would have to be made by the Bjorn or some other coder in this forum. Physics:bounce:Physics

[:surprised](http://what the?)

No harm in hoping / wishing - but I’d not bet my life’s savings on it happening - if I were you

Just imo.

Why not Blender? It does rendering and has environment simulation built in already, and it does a nice job of importing. (Quite a bit harder to figure out  than Wings, but that’s a price one pays for a lot of features and flexibility.)

I think Wings is better off staying focused on modeling for the meantime. If they get all the modeling tools and features nailed down perfectly, then sure maybe expand from there. But that’s still a ways off.

Thats why  , yes i know that physics in wings will take some time to apear but if noone talk about it then it never will. And what you guys think of the render i posted in the WIP´s thread, i,m just learning how to make them with YafRay so it don´t have a natural looking lighting but i will reach there.

I think the physics plugin will have to wait until Wings supports even basic animation… Given the lack of development in that area - I wouldn’t hold out for a physics plugin anytime soon (i.e. in the next year or so!)

Wings is awesome for modelling and all, but the language it is written in (Erlang) makes it difficult to attract developers for new features. The languages is actually pretty good once yu get the hang of it; it’s just most people won’t want to learn a new language (and new method of coding) for adding features to free software…

yes … Understand

No Physics first we need rigging then worry about physics. Wings is so good at making characters but there is no rigging and unless you are exporting to a high end app you don’t have it. Another thing that would be cool not so hard is lattice deformation.
