In between everything else I do,3D work and Flash dev I have a staging area where I am working on a web comic/graphic novel crossover. When it will get done depends on ongoing workflow. The story structure, scripted character background is done for the graphic novel. Still exploring illustration style… but close. Do plan on adding online stories as well.

But the final result will be a printed graphic novel, which I will write and illustrate.

I’m working on a long-term transmedia project and web-distributed comics are part of the concept. So I’m interested.

#4

I am Interested:applause:

#5

I’m interested, but I don’t know how much I could or would get done. I actually have a concept that I was working on already with a bit of back story, a plot for the overall series and some character sketches, but I think it would lend itself a little better to something like a comic book format.

#6

Interested and working on my own.
Could certainly use some help!

I think this area has room to grow but not as a Webcomic itself.

I think if you get a moving comic that you could actually even turn it into something of a financial gain.

One example is that of Afterworld which you can find at www.afterworld.tv. If you noticed it in itself is basically a moving comic with moving cameras doing most of the movement and 3 frame transitions.

I think this is a great middle ground to explore. In fact I know of two others who have made a descent living or success of a moving comic vs the standard sit still webcomic.

www.drshroud.com
www.brokensaints.com

Brokensaints for one has had a great level of success.

Currently it runs at 720 Minutes long, Wow! They definately told their story.
They compiled all the episodes on DVD and sold on their own 10,000 Units, which seems to be the common number on these indie comic ventures.
10,000 units but being a boxed set it had a retail sale value of around 60 dollars. Do the math. But that is not where it stopped. Fox got a hold of it and they are expected to sell 50,000 - 100,000 Units at the same retail price. And because they made it a success without the studio at first they get to keep all the rights.

I say add a little music, put in a few little moves and sound fx and you created an entirely differant art peice that people are more willing to buy into.

Afterworld was given a budget of 3 million dollars.
I think it is a good time to jump on this bandwagon while things are still fresh and growing.

Webcomics are cool but I think just add taht little extra umph and you got something totally differant that sets you apart.

I’ve been interested for awhile now but it’s been wishful thinking for me so far so take it for what it’s worth.
Seems like I never get enough time or content or motivation to do it proper and keep it going. Maybe if the right project comes along?
So, yeah, keep me posted!

one of my good friends who has nothing to do with the same industry that im in is into webcomics in a huge way. he wants to get together with me and make one.

its always on the backburner though. we talk about it,but thats about it so far.

Hmmm…what are the pre-requisites? Laser vision, spidey-sense, published author…? I might be interested, particularly in the writing aspect.

#11

I am really interested in doing a webcomic in writer and artist, not quite good at coloring but I suppose practice makes perfect.

I think one of my biggest challenges is my ability in actually getting things done, I have a million and one ideas floating around in my head but I never seem to find a good starting ground.

#12

I’m certainly interested in doing a web comic. to the point of having written scripts, storyboarded panels, developed characters and other model assets, and bought a web domain to publish it all on. -in fact, I’m interested in pursuing the website idea to form a community that anyone can publish on and make a bit of scratch for both that artists and myself in the process.

#13

It’s something of a long-term goal for me, yet I refuse to consider starting it until my current income stabilizes, since I expect the project to be time-consuming to the extreme. I also don’t want to be one of those guys who only posts a comic every three or four months, so I won’t start the project until I’ve tested out the art pipeline, and shopped the story concept to get a feel for its reception before dumping a bazillion man-hours into the project.

How I envy those who can be content with four panels of two guys yammering at each other. Though I’ve seen some excellent work done with stick figures…

Here is a great webcomic I found with that little extra pizzaz that can translate to dVD sales outside of just being a comic

I’m still working on mine, just really slowly. Have two more pages drawn, they’re just not scanned and lettered yet.

I have a ton of ideas for other ones, and would be happy to write if someone else wanted to draw.

#16

Might be a cool idea if CGS had a webcomic of its own where each one was a user submitted comic. Follow a general guideline on content and alignment and draw away… :stuck_out_tongue:

I wouldn’t mind to a colabo with someone and make it happen.

#18

Interested

Hell yeah! I’d love to do some work with this Roberto, but I’d have a few questions before I decide what role I could be do, e.g. style, themes.

The big one is what kind of webcomic - is this a continuous plot a la http://www.cityofthamesis.com/ or a satire a la Cyanide and Happiness.

Oh and can’t do anything for the next 2 weeks (exams). After that, I’d really like to get involved.

Im interested. I certainly don’t hold a candle to many people on here, but I’d love to help where I can.
