Hi,
There used to be an app for Mac OS 9 called Waves World. Provide it a grayscale map and it will generate a 2D top view of how waves interact with the map. I used to use it with Image2Mesh. Is there anything similar for OS X?
Thanks.

You can also try the SimpleWave shader applied over a well tesselated Ubershape. The shader has displacement and can be layered… May be not the most powerfull option, but worth a try.
Thanks for the suggestions.
I do have Simple Wave. Never knew it did displacements!
I must start to read the manual
P.S. In case anyone wondered about the original Wavesworld for OS 9, I found a link…but unfortunately the download is no longer available.
