So here’s a couple of sketches that I’ve been working on. I know that my painting still has a long way to go but I wanted to get some critiques on them to get better. I was trying to go for a more subtle look with the color but I don’t think that it really came out that way at all. Overall I’m not too thrilled with them at all besides certain areas here and there. I do feel that the designs are a bit plain as well so before I start a new one I was hoping for some of your thoughts!

These were done in photoshop completely with a intuos 4 tablet. I started with just line work then I went in and added my values and lighting in grayscale. I then added color using different blending modes. Thanks in advance for your crits.

Your understanding of lighting needs some work. I’m seeing contradictions where the form/cast shadows don’t match the position of the highlights. You should know exactly where your light sources are, and then be consistent about it.

The green figure on the right/top has odd perspective for his right leg–the angle is wrong.

I agree with Lunatique, and, besides that, I believe it would be interesting if you give a little bit more detail to the armor by adding some texture. They are warriors, so they probably have fought many times and the armor seems to be intact in most of your characters. It was hard for me to understand clearly that your bottom right character is holding a sword with both hands. You can try another pose with it, because I thing that your hands aren’t posed correctly, you can try and pose them as if he was holding the sword right in the top of it. That way, the sword will get the proper form of a sword without the hands getting in the way, and still getting that feeling of him holding it. Keep on practicing, and something that has been very useful for me when dealing with perspective, is thinking of cubes and making some basic shapes first and then, once the persp is clear, filling them out with the form I want to.
