Team name:
Virtual Vision Designs

Project name:
Kynskavion - Era Of Twilight

Brief description:
Almost 4 years ago, I started working on the project, back then i was writing a book about the world, however, never finished it beacuse i started to develop it further, not only its story but the whole world. Eventually it beacame the home for my Pen And Paper Roleplaying sessions, the land was given the name of Kynskavion. Soon thereafter I started making less pieces from the game as modifications using the Construction Set for the all still to popular game Morrowind. This included a cave and a forest from my world. However, as i realised the scope of the world I started thinking about making a Total conversion for the game. It was going rather well, and then it suddenly hit me… Why oh why don’t i take the whole project to the next level, to continue expanding upon it and from a fresh perspective I felt the way to go, was its own engine. I tried many things Looked at Ogre, a true render engien but, features was missing. I looked at Irrlicht, which was an improvement, yet I as a true 3d artist did’nt make much of any of them, yet i came somewhere and atleast gained some knowlage of the hardships of the programmers. I even tried teaming up with programmers to make our own engine from scratch. However luck was not on my brightest side so to speak. And all these paths has finnaly summed up to me beeing here.

Target aim:
Short Term: Technical Demo with One city, one forest, and the first mainquest, wherein the most needed gameplay mechanics should be implemented, as freeware. Long Term: To build an RPG that will beacome recognised, find a publisher and we will share everything we gain between those who worked equally “depending upon how long they worked on the project actively” ofcourse.

Compensation:
Any money gained from the project will be shared among the members, “See above for plans”

Technology:
We’re using an inhouse solution that’s for now most of the part Nathan’s contribution, the results so far can be seen here: http://www.nathanthecoder.blogspot.com/ And we’re focuing our artstaff at 3dsmax or applications that can for now export to 3ds or .X models. This is however a subject to change.

The artists are responsible for the application they create content with, Most of our team use 3dsmax, if we can focus our workforce around 3dsmax for artists I think we will have alot closer team and can support each other better. Zbrush for Normalmaps and detailing.

Texture artists can use whatever program they feel confident with, that can make DDS or TGA images.

Possibly any other soul really interested who can contribute something out of the ordinary.

Additional Info:

Where to start without spoiling is a good question, ill start with half the intro to see if its spawns any interest:

Story Intro PT1:

Lately, my family had begun falling apart. It had beacome apparent to me that things would not last much longer, I was right.

My father died a mysterious death, which cause was cast in shadows. I was left alone in this world, carrying the curse of my Bloodline. All alone in the lands of Kynskavion…

The curse which in fact is the fate which we have so far always strifed against was not sealed for me, as for my elders. Before it could be done, all known realatives to me had died.

Common Questions

What is the game?
The game is a single player RPG (role playing game) experience set in a unique alternative world.

Why create this game?
Our team has been working to realize a new RPG gaming experience. We strive to share our unique world through creative game play and powerful storytelling. Our desire is to bring a unique twist to the RPG games on the market lately. Don’t take our word for it though
be on the lookout for our demo soon to be released Spring 2006!

Where does the game take place?
In short, our story takes place in a world unreal, yet so real. We throw out the fantasy experience you commonly find in games. We are not held back by corporate structure. The game features new kinds of weapons, new races, and new architecture, new flora and fauna. We unbolt the doors of imagination, knock on your creative limits and walk in the gardens of a new living world. Welcome to Kynskavion.

What are the main features of the game?
Kynskavion offers three playable races, hundreds of completely new weapons and armor, a new refreshing view on combat and physics. With plenty of additional surprises. We designed our world to be a complete departure from the common RPG experience. We invite you to experience Kynskavion for yourself.

What is the main focus?
The main focus is to surround the player in a world that puts him in creative situations that require complete immersion to determine the player driven outcomes. Our conceptual goal is to make the game player feel he is not only in control of the protagonist, but also the world around him. Look for time and seasons to change, effects that change the surrounding, and events in the story often hinge on player emotion driving the world into an uncertain future.

What is so different?
The differences are many. We are trying a new set of player character races, we are trying to create a world where we have volumes of literary works explaining things in great detail, if the leotaurs have a fur then the option to find logical explanations will be given. If a weapon is in the world it has a creator, either living or dead, and the player who looks for a reason will find a reason for everything. This is not the typical story of evil vs. good.

Our team welcomes Anthony, the new team member to a Programmer position. And we hope that we will lean much from each other, and continue developing our game together as a team.
