Vue Training?

#1

Hey all,

I have been handed a project in which I need to use Vue 7 xstream integrated with Maya 2009. I was wondering if anyone knows of any good resources by which I can get up and running on the xstream workflow but also Maya integration? DVDs preferred but a book would work just as well. I saw Lynda.com has some videos for xstream6 and my school has a membership, but I wasn’t sure how much it’s changed. Also Lynda doesn’t cover Maya integration and I wasn’t sure how complicated that gets …

Thanks!

I’m also looking for some getting started with Vue 7.5 training to evaluate it for purchase. The tutorials that come with the PLE and that are on the E-on website are horrible. Apart from being slow, boring and very un-technical, they also are buggy with the text boxes constantly flickering in and out of existence.

I’m looking for training with a production focus. We’re looking at using Vue 7.5 (infinite and/or xStream) in an animated film as both a generating app for a lot of forest background mattes and for some of the more up close and personal environments.

Thoughts anyone?

I would look at geekatplay.com for tutorials. I think they have the widest range of Vue tutorials AND, they have written two books minimum already about Vue. AND, they were the presenters for Vue at Siggraph this year.

I’m not normally one to jump in and say, me, but if you are looking for Vue training…

I’m the other presenter for e-on at siggraph
asileFXhttp://www.asilefx.com
Over 80 hours of vue training on the site. The Vue 5 training is no longer available or it would be more, thinking of bringing it back though.

And yes, I would also recommend GeekatPlay http://www.geekatplay.com

Any of the training for Vue 6+, from either company will give you a good sense of the application. Not sure which integration training is available through geekatplay, but I have not yet covered maya, only c4d and lw. Most techniques apply to the other host apps, but you don’t get the bug fixes or workarounds.

Of course, sorry that I forgot you Nick. Yes, AsileFX is another not too bad source!

You guys both offer fantastic suggestions, Nick your site looks very helpful.

I’ll consult the ballance sheet and see what she says  Until then I’m greatful to know where to go.

I agree, www.geekatplay.com has a ton of tutorials! I’m just starting to go through the tutorials as well.
