Vue Infinite.

I didn’t do a search, so shame on me if this question exists…

I’m curious if anyone has successfully used Vue Infinite with messiah?
http://www.e-onsoftware.com/products/vue/vue_5_infinite/

It does state that:

Note: entire scenes can be exported as 3DS or LightWave LWS files only. Object animation information (motion, scale and orientation) can be exported as 3DS or LightWave MOT/LWS files.

So in theory it should be possible. Would be interesting to have messiah sync up with vue. Would be almost a dream solution for many. A powerful, inexpensive and flexible character animation package linked up with an environment building application.

Hm - haven’t tried it yet.
Vue is a funny app. Very cool and powerful on one hand but with rather bad antialiasing and an overdone “homeuser” interface. In some areas I was surprised how good it is, but some other things are not that exciting. The most fun is playing around with EcoSystems using weird stuff instead of plants… LOL

If I find the time I will do a test.

Cheers,

Yeah I’ve never been impressed with its rendering capabilities. And it started out as a hobbiest package, which is probally the reason for the interface. It would be neat to sync up, though not sure I’d like to render in it, its also not a very faster rendering option.

it’s not that fast at rendering?..I rendered a densly populated landscape with GI & depth fog with over 9 million polys at 300dpi-A4 in 6 hrs on an Athlon64 3200 + 2gb ram…I couldn’t even load a scene of that size into Lightwave or Messiah.

I have really struggled with it but it’s nothing to do with the app, it’s just because I don’t have the experience with it…if it’s good enough for ILM it’s good enough for me:).

yep, in poly eating it is good
But I found it had the baddest AA I’ve seen so far in any app. To get acceptable results, I had to turn it veeeery high, and then a NTSC sized frame took a day or more. And still the pattern was visible. I played two days just with AA settings and then I gave up and rendered double size and rescaled.
It sure is cool in some areas, but others just feel like a children’s game.

I can use it if I have to, but it wouldn’t be my tool of choice. I don’t give a damn for ILM, you know? :stuck_out_tongue:
