.vrscene export max import maya

Apologies for the cross-post - but no response on the Maya boards…

I’m looking to convert a Vray scene in Max 2013 to a Vray scene in Maya 2014.

There are a number of suggestions around about how to do this, but the most sensible appears to be to export to FBX, export to a .vrscene, import both into Maya and then use a script to relink the materials appropriately (http://www.nzaneproductions.com/2011/07/30/howto-export-vray-for-3ds-max-scene-to-vray-for-maya-scene/).

The export process from Max seems to work, and I can import the FBX successfully into Maya - but importing the .vrscene file crashes Maya every single time.

I’ve seen it suggested on the forums that VrayRT for Max creates better .vrscene files but I still have the same issue.

I’ve tried it with a number of scenes of varying complexity but even with very simple scenes Maya crashes when it tries to read the .vrscene file.

Has anyone experienced a similar issue? Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Same here, I’v been looking for this issue in the web with not luck, I suggest to render 3dmax or convert your mats manually  cheers
