Vray RT crashes after 5 hours of rendering

#1

I have no clue what is causing this. I am rendering a car animation of 250 frames. About 3 min per frame. I started the render last night. When I came back after 5 hours the render stopped. The render window was still open and the render time indicator kept counting but nothnig happened anymore. I stopped the render and restarted it. Now after 7 frames it crashes again. I am going to try to turn off my pc tonight and try it tomorrow morning again. What can be the problem?

These are my specs:

Intel i7 3770
24 GB Ram
SSD 500 Gb
2x GTX 980 4gb
600w Power Supply.

I’ve had this same problem a few weeks ago when I needed to render for like 2 days. It crashed also after like 12 hours. At that time I had only 1x gtx 980 4gb built in my pc.

My GPU temperature is between 60 and 80 degrees when rendering.
My scene is 48mb. It has 1 high detailed car in it and a parking lot. Textures are not bigger then 2.5mb.

I will look for some kind of gpu logger so I can look back at whats happening.

This is the error that’s showen in the vray log:

It says something about allocate memory. That looks like the scene is to big for the card but that can not be the problem. If it was to big the first 190 frames would not be rendered. Or does the card needs to clear it cache or something?

Please help

You should post these things in ChaosGroup forums. You will get answer faster. You will have a lot higher chance of meeting someone who understands it, and if it’s a bug, then you will let developers know what needs to be fixed, so you don’t run into it next time.
