Vray - Headlights Main Glass

#1

I am running into a slight issue. And this is something I am doing wrong because I have this on all of my models.

When rendering my headlights it seems my main headlights glass kills the detail inside the headlight.
If the glass is hidden the headlights render out just fine, with it on it hides my bumps and colors.

I have a shell on everything and is all to scale.

I have affect shadows on

I also noticed if I uncheck “visible to refractions” in my vray properties for the glass, it helps somewhat, but not fully.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Here is a pic showing the issue.

It looks to me like the glass is behaving just as it should, i.e. it’s got some reflectivity and the reflection is obscuring the detail behind it a little. If you want to reduce this, turn down the reflectivity of the glass.

Maybe you need to increase max reflections and refractions depth since the glass might ‘steal’ a ray depth level.
If it’s not helping, another thing to try is to lower the cutoff parameter in the chrome and glass material. Vray materials tend to cut off too much of the reflections by default so that would be my second guess.
