Hi,
I’m currently running into issues with the vray hair shader while trying to make photo realistic hair in maya. I find that in any render I do regardless of if the render settings are default or customised to my production settings, with lights in my scene or without, the hair is coming out really shiny and giving it a greasy look, as well as looking fairly messy.
See pics attached for examples of this.
I’ve also accompanied these pics with a pic of the hair system settings and vray hair mtl settings.
My workflow is pretty standard.
I set up the hair by exporting fibermesh from zbrush, converting to curves, simplifying them, adding a maya hair system to them, editing a little and then just adding the vray hair mtl.
So am I doing something wrong here to get this result or have I set up the hair wrong in the first place?
Any guidance would be very very much appreciated or even to point me in the way of a good tutorial on setting up a vray hair mtl in maya to achieve realistic results, dont mind paying if its one thats on gum road etc.
I’ve already thrawled through loads of articles and little tutorials so far online but none have cohesive enough to help me fully understand what settings I should focus on to get my issue or any future issues resolved.
Many thanks
