Vray Glass Refraction Issue

#1

Hi all,

I’m currently working on a rendering of a faceted bottle, and I’m having some trouble with the refractions. (vray 2.0 and 3ds max 2012 x64) . A lot of the edges of the glass (between the outer surface of the glass and the inner cavity where the juice is), are giving black refractions/reflections. I turned up the max depth for the reflections and refractions, and set the exit colors to light grey, which helped a little bit, but there is still a bunch of black. The background is white, and there are no black objects in the image. No overlapping surfaces. Unfortunately I can’t show an image, because the project is confidential. Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

Do you have an environment to reflect ? Also, check Affect Shadows.

I have affect shadows checked. The environment is just a white color in the environment slot, and there is a white seamless backdrop. I tried having the bottle floating above the seamless and also intersecting through it, but they both looked the same. There isn’t a single thing in the scene that is black, or even a dark color.
