Vray Blend Mtl Appering Black

#1

I am currently making an eyeball and am running into an issue I don’t understand.

I am combining 2 basic VRay Mtls using a Vray Blend Mtl to create a translucent shiny cornea revealing the sclera or (main textured eyeball inside) .

In the photo attached you can see some of the attributes for each of the 2 Vray Mtls used.

The blend Mtl is set to additive mode at 50% with the extra spec as Coat Mtl 1 (Not Shown).

I followed along to the letter with the tutorial I am watching, yet while his object shows in the viewport as being shiny silver when mtl is applied to it and it is rendering translucent revealing the sclera inside it.

Mine however, shows in the viewport shiny black, rendering like shown in the photo (on the left).

Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

Unsure what photo’s will help resolve this so just ask and I can upload what can better assist in helping resolve my issue.

Looks like it’s rendering correctly; you have a black shader combined with a clear one, and that’s what the render looks like. Viewport /OpenGL renders are often inconsistent because people have different settings, maya versions, operating systems and graphics cards.
